The OLAP ModelKit is intended for the creation of analytical applications for decision support systems. The package includes a flexible OLAP component for multidimensional data analysis. The use of components doesn’t require deep knowledge in programming since this pack represents a unified development framework with similar design-time and runtime customization facilities.

OLAP ModelKit is designed to easily chart multidimensional data in an understandable manner for data analysis. Reports, created with this component, provide the full scale representation of multidimensional data, its processing and examination from different viewpoints (so-called “slice and dice”). Components included in the OLAP ModelKit suite represent a unified development framework with similar design-time and runtime customization facilities, common data management and appearance customization methods.

General Features:

  • All components are written in C# and contain only managed code
  • Compatible with .NET Framework 2.0
  • Compatible with the most popular .NET IDEs: Visual Studio.NET, Borland C# Builder, Delphi.NET, Sharp Develop, and other .NET IDEs. Moreover, components work without any IDE
  • Use of GDI+ advantages: gradient fills, alpha blending, etc
  • Easy to deploy: In order to make your application using the OLAP ModelKit components work on a user's machine, simply copy a few DLLs to the program directory
  • Royalty-free runtime
  • Full source code in C# is available

  • Data representation with the help of a native charting component and any third-party data visualization components
  • HTML, Excel, and PDF Export

Customization:

  • Ability to selectively change the cell style set in the style sheet for the displayed pivot table
  • Ability to draw either one or another table element manually
  • Ability to make custom functions and variables available in the elements expressions
  • Ability to assign custom aggregate functions

Integration into all kinds of applications:

  • Integration with Instrumentation ModelKit allows the combination of charts and instruments in the same application for digital dashboards creation
  • Integration with Report Sharp-Shooter allows the building of charts of different types in reports
  • Integration with OLAP ModelKit allows the use of the data calculated in the OLAP cube as a data source for charts
  • Export to SVG, Flash, BMP, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and TIFF

OLAP ModelKit is available in the following editions:

  • Windows Forms Edition: is designed for Windows Forms applications. It is an ideal solution for those developers who are engaged in the creation of highly effective decision support systems which provide dynamic data analysis and interactive data processing. This edition is a part of .NET ModelKit Suite for Windows applications
  • Professional Edition: is designed for Windows Forms applications. The OLAP ModelKit   professional edition comes with full source code. It is a powerful solution for .NET developers wishing to have total control over created applications. This edition is a part of .Net ModelKit Suite Professional

OLAP ModelKit features

  • Contains only 100% .NET managed code. Compatible with Visual Studio 2003/2005 and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1/2.0
  • Wizard for cubes creation is available. The pivot table setting wizard is available both at visual design time and at your application run time. Using the wizard, you can easily group dimensions, adding new groupings or modifying the existing ones, specify what information contained in a data source should be used in calculations and the rules for such data use, define the final table presentation style, and so on
  • Allows saving all parameters in XML file. You don’t need to adjust a big cube over and over again when it is necessary to create a new report. Just save the settings of the table layout and display style and use them repeatedly, making any necessary changes
  • Full source code in C# and unit tests are available. The full source code provided with the professional version will give you full control of your application
  • Easy to localize. The OLAP ModelKit can be easily localized. The string resources for product localization are stored in xml files and can be used at any time. The localization files are included in the OLAP ModelKit package and can be found in the localization catalog. The package now contains Romanian, Thai, Danish, German, Turkish, and Russian localizations

Data Processing

  • You can connect to any .NET data sources: ADO.NET, IList, and IListSource. The product supports nested data sources. You can use any .NET data source for your cross reports. It can be both ADO.NET objects (such as DataSet, DataTabel or DataView) and/or your own objects with support for IList and IListSource interfaces
  • Effective data processing as you go. When you change the settings of the table layout (i.e. modify groupings in dimensions or add new groupings and facts), a new report is presented to you right away
  • Dynamic data sorting and filtering by assigned or arbitrary conditions. Need a table displaying a definite set of values from a grouping or a table column? You simply specify all necessary values and click the OK button. The expression language allows you to specify any condition for value selections. The ability to change data sorting within the dimension grouping is especially useful when you have a large range of data sources
  • Includes powerful expression language and a convenient expression editor. Due to a built-in expression language, the OLAP ModelKit allows the creation of cross reports of any complexity depending on the data-source information
  • Aggregate functions: it is possible to calculate different aggregates for the same data. The calculation of intermediate table results is conducted subject to aggregate functions such as standard deviation, estimate of standard deviation, variance, estimate of variance, median, skewness, and kurtosis. The display shows the sum, the minimum, maximum, and average values for the entire table or the whole number of values, and other manipulations. In addition, the OLAP ModelKit enables the creation of custom aggregate functions
  • Ability to break date and time fields into series dimensions (year, quarter, month, day of week). The expression language contains a set of functions for date processing; groupings by months or days of the week can be created within dimensions based on dates taken from the data source
  • Grouping. You can easily group any data by a range of values using the special functions provided within the expression language
  • Source data editing. It is possible to access the set of source data used for any pivot table cell calculation and to analyze and edit these data
  • An unlimited number of dimensions and measures. In order to increase report visualization and the data systematization level while projecting a pivot table, you can define as many groupings as required
  • Interactive values grouping. Interactive grouping of values allows sophisticated and effective analysis
  • Sorting by total.Sorting by total columns makes quantitative data analysis easier – just click on the corresponding total

Data Visualization

  • Appearance uses XP styles, as well as office and smooth styles, custom drawing, and custom format. The OLAP ModelKit allows the display of pivot table reports corresponding to the visual style currently used
  • It is possible to present data with the help of Chart ModelKit and any third-party data visualization components. Tighter integration with Chart ModelKit provides the display of your pivot table as comprehensive charts. Just place Chart Viewer on the form the DataCubeGrid is located on, a few mouse clicks and the data is transformed into meaningful information. The DataCubeView component delivered in the OLAP ModelKit package allows converting a cube in such a way as to make the data available for use by third-party components
  • Graphic and percentage data output. You can set special modes for the display of cell values making your cross reports more visual. Values can be displayed as percents or as a progress bar that fills the cell depending on the percent value
  • Print ability: An end user can preview and print necessary reports at any time.A user can preview and print reports at any stage while working on a pivot table. It is possible to adjust the print of the document: you can specify whether styles will be taken into account or whether page headers and the values of the dimension groupings will be printed on every page
  • HTML, Excel, and PDF export. A created pivot table can be presented not only in the form of your application but as a hard copy. You can export your pivot table to an Excel or HTML document. Table layouts as well as all visual settings will be taken into account
  • Interactive data representation management. You can change dimension groupings, set groupings, and table filters without even running the designer. All operations are available either from contextual menus or conducted by means of the drag-and-drop option
  • Interactive grid for preview with drag-and-drop support. The interactive DataCubeGrid component delivered in the OLAP ModelKit package allows the display of the pivot table on your application form. This component provides a set of easy-to-use layout controls for modifying the pivot table at runtime. Any operations on the cube can be executed from contextual menus, from the tool bar, or by drag-and-drop
  • Customize appearance. Ability to change all appearance properties including styles at design time and at run time
