SandShell for WPF includes powerful desktop alert components that make full use of WPF templating and databinding technologies to make the creation of desktop alerts easy. Alerts can be any size and shape and can host anything from simple text to fully-interactive complex controls. Firing off an alert is as easy as one line of code, and the queue manager intelligently presents alerts one by one including animation transitions.

SandShell includes an Office 2007 theme that not only covers the controls within SandShell, but most of the standard WPF controls used in the typical Office 2007 interface too. This makes it easy to give your whole window a consistent look and feel. Divelements ship blue, silver and black color schemes for the Office theme and the developer is free to create their own color schemes or even completely retemplate the library to give it a truly unique appearance.

The ExplorerBar control automatically obtains its colors from the current Windows theme. Comprehensive designer integration is included and configuring every aspect of these controls and their behaviour is as simple as a few clicks on the design surface, ensuring you or your developers will be up-and-running in no time. Deployment of your application in a Web browser is possible with full XBAP support.

Full right-to-left support means you can deploy your application into any locale in the world and be assured your users will get the best experience possible.

SandShell provides all the controls and themes you need to recreate the non-Ribbon-based portions of the Office 2007 user interface in your WPF applications. If you cannot see a feature explained here, please try the evaluation version or contact us to ask us about it.

Features:

WunderBar Navigation
WunderBar is the Microsoft codename for the controls on the left of the Outlook shell that provides top-level navigation facilities for all its features. A WunderBar contains many panes, each of which has a header, an image and some content which is displayed in the main portion of the bar when selected. The bar itself can be collapsed, freeing screen real estate, and while collapsed the contents of the selected pane can still be accessed via a popup.

Every feature of the Office control has been recreated in SandShell for WPF. A splitter which can be used to resize or collapse the control is included as part of its template. The developer can choose to disable its collapsing or resizing features. You can also specify controls to display vertically when the selected pane is collapsed.

Office 2007 Themes
This library includes theme dictionaries that apply the Office 2007 look and feel to a number of the stock WPF controls. Not every control is covered but most of those seen in Outlook and other Office applications are. Divelements include themes for:

  • Menus
  • Toolbar Trays
  • Status Bars
  • Toolbars
    • Buttons inside toolbars
  • Scrollbars

Applying the themes to your application is as simple as one line of code in your XAML markup to include the resource dictionary in your window resources. Or, you can use the API to dynamically change the theme at runtime.

ExplorerBar Layout
The ExplorerBar displays multiple containers, all of which can be collapsed by the user. Some containers can be designated as primary containers for a different look and feel. As in Windows Explorer, this control uses movement and fading animations when the sections are being collapsed and expanded.
