Version 2012 includes ISO 19770-2 identification tag creation incorporated as part of installation development.

InstallShield 2012 Professional also supports Microsoft's latest products, including Visual Studio 2010, .NET Framework, MSBuild, and DirectX 9.0c. With InstallShield 2012 Professional you can expand installations to servers and Web services, including IIS, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008. InstallShield 2012 Professional also lets you target mobile devices with support for Windows Mobile, Windows Embedded CE, SQL Server Compact Edition and PalmOS.

Predefined System Searches: InstallShield has new predefined system searches: Adobe Reader 10, Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2003
New End-User Interface : An entirely new end-user interface and redesigned, modern built-in wizard pages give full control over installation customization.
Monitoring for COM Extraction: InstallShield 2012 supports a new monitoring method for COM extraction.The method uses a kernel driver to monitor the areas of the registry that are modified during dynamic COM extraction at build time and static COM extraction at design time. It combines the advantages that the earlier methods provided, allowing the DLL to read existing registries entries and preventing changes to the build machine.

With InstallShield 2011 Premier you can expand installations to servers and Web services, including IIS 7.0, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server 2008 SP1, and Windows Server 2008 R2. It also targets mobile devices with support for Windows Mobile 6.x, Windows Embedded CE 6.x, SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 SP1, and PalmOS 3.5 and later.
