What's new in Actipro WPF Studio 2014.2?

  • Six new built-in chart palette options, including Retro and Sand.
  • Docking/MDI received numerous updates, including a new option for rafting windows to not hide when in scenario where their owner DockSite is hidden, such as if it's nested in tabs itself. Many updates to focus handling were made, especially in relation to interop controls like WinForms/ActiveX.
  • Updated the Country and Currency classes with the latest ISO data.
  • New custom property editor sample that shows how to easily add a custom property editor for a certain yype.
  • Double-clicking a property name has been improved such that if the property doesn't support standard values, it will attempt to focus the related editor instead and select all text.
  • Quote auto-completion support has been added to the DelimiterAutoCompleter class, with double quote completion enabled by default. As the user types a start quote, the related end quote will be auto-entered after the caret. The C#, VB, Python, JavaScript, and JSON languages have been updated to support quote auto-completion. It can easily be added to any custom languages as well.
  • Support ASP-style server tags, where the C# within the tags has automated IntelliPrompts.
  • Python Language Add-on, a new premium add-on that supports both v2.x and v3.x syntax.

What’s new in Actipro WPF 2014.1?

  • WPF Docking - Metro themes have been dramatically refined and updated in this version, mostly in the area of Docking/MDI.  Updated UI includes subtle border lines, new auto-hide tab appearance and title bar gripper decorations.
  • Metro - Metro themes will now not show images on tabs by default, and have changed auto-hide tabs to require a click (instead of hover) to open.  These updates match Visual Studio 2013 behavior.
  • WPF Property Grid - New built-in property editors for FontFamily, FontStretch, FontStyle, and FontWeight type properties have been added.
  • WPF Ribbon - New key tip specific theme resources have been added and key tips in Metro themes now render more like Office 2013.
  • CheckBox - Menu items are now capable of supporting tri-state display.
  • Syntax Editor - Delimiter auto-completion logic for insertion and subsequent scope tracking has been greatly improved.  Delimiter indent provider can now optionally support square braces.
  • RadialSlider Control - A circular slider that can be used to input any scalar value.
  • RingSlice Control - Renders a portion of a ring at designated angles and radius.
  • CircularThumb Control - A thumb gripper with a circular shape and arrow adornment.

What's new Actipro WPF Controls 2013.2?

  • Pie Chart - The pie chart supports advanced features like multiple label positioning and display options, legend display, nesting of multiple series and hierarchical data.
  • Donut Chart - Supports advanced features like multiple label positioning and display options, legend display, nesting of multiple series, hierarchical data and hole radius configuration.
  • Percentage Stacking Chart - When using stacking bar or area charts with the percentage axis option, the percentage value labels now display on the axis.
  • Improved Support for Touch - Ribbon buttons have been improved to support touch-based tapping. Popups on all ribbon controls have also been updated to be positioned properly on tablet PCs that have the right handed option set.
  • Advanced JavaScript Language Implementation - A new advanced JavaScript language implementation has been added to the Web Languages Add-on.
  • JavaScript - The syntax language features syntax highlighting, parsing, AST building, syntax error reporting, code outlining, delimiter auto-complete, smart indent, text formatting, and code block selection.
  • Delimiter Auto-Completion - Delimiter auto-complete is where the user types a start delimiter and a related end delimiter is auto-inserted after the caret.
  • Delimiter Indent Provider - Curly brace auto-indent can now be easily added to any language, and it has been added to our C# and JavaScript languages in the add-ons.
  • Indentation Guides - Indentation guides are subtle vertical lines that render at each tab stop on lines prior to the first non-whitespace character. They help visually align the indentation of visible code blocks.
  • Improved Code Fragments Performance - Lexer and token scanning performance has been improved when using our code fragments feature, which allows you to set header and footer text to surround the document's text for purposes of parsing.
  • Improved Printing Support - A custom highlighting style registry can now be set explicitly for printouts. This is ideal if your editor is in a dark theme since then you can use an alternate highlighting style registry designed for light backgrounds on printouts.
  • Improved WindowChrome - In the past versions, WindowChrome (and thus RibbonWindow) would cover up an auto-hidden Windows taskbar when the window was maximized. This issue has now been resolved, and the auto-hidden taskbar is now visible.

What’s new in Actipro WPF Studio 2013.1?

  • Text Formatting - Text formatters have been added to the .NET Languages Add-on which beautify code by adjusting whitespace and making it more readable.

What’s new in Actipro WPF Studio 2012.2?

  • Bullet Graph - A bullet graph is a special kind of bar chart used to display a single value and make comparisons to one or more related values, such as last year's mark, a goal or target, or a projected future value.
  • Box Plot - A box plot is a chart used to visualize major statistical values, such as the mean, median, and quartile values, of a data set. The mean and median can be shown as bars perpendicular to the chart.
  • Candlestick Chart - Candlestick charts are used to visualize price movements over time, such as changing stock or currency values.  The edges of the box define the opening and closing values, with the wicks extending to the highest and lowest values reached.
  • IntelliPrompt Code Snippet Selection Session - A new code snippet selection session that allows an end user to display a popup containing all the available code snippets.  They can type in what they are looking for or can use the completion list as appropriate to locate a snippet.  Once a snippet is selected, a template session begins for it.
  • Structure Matchers - Structure matchers are a new language service added that allows a language to locate matching delimiter sets.  This is a feature that is harnessed by other SyntaxEditor editing functionality such as move/select to matching bracket and delimiter highlighting.  A built-in implementation is included that makes it easy to match common bracket pairs for a language.
  • Move/Select to Matching Bracket - When the caret is next to a delimiter that is part of a delimiter set (as identified by a structure matcher), the end user can choose to move or select the caret to the matching bracket via built-in edit actions.
  • Delimiter Highlighting - Delimiter highlighting checks the text next to the caret to see if it is part of a delimiter set (as identified by a structure matcher).  In cases where a delimiter is found, it and its related delimiters can be highlighted so that the end user can easily identify the code block.
  • .NET Languages Add-on Support for C# 5.0 / VB 11.0 Syntax - The latest official C# 5.0 and Visual Basic 11.0 language specifications have added some new keywords and functionality to the languages.  Both languages add asynchronous procedure support (via async/await) and VB adds iterators.  The latest .NET Languages Add-on parser is set up to properly parse the new syntax, and the resolver is able to work with async results for supporting automated IntelliPrompt.
  • .NET Languages Add-on Resolver Improvements for Anonymous Function Results - The .NET Languages Add-on's resolver can now examine anonymous functions to try and derive the Type of their result. This helps further improve the resolver's ability to provide accurate automated IntelliPrompt when working with LINQ and other scenarios.
  • New Windows 8 Light Theme - A complete new theme for the Windows 8 style appearance, inspired by the latest Visual Studio and Office versions, is included in 2012.2.  It is optional and is shipped in its own assembly, similar to the Office themes. You can activate native control theming so that all the controls in your app, whether they are the built-in Microsoft controls or Actipro controls, will render consistently and with a great new Metro-like appearance.
  • WindowChrome Class - A new chrome class that can be used to alter the appearance of any normal WPF window.

What’s new in WPF Studio 2012.1?

  • Micro Charts - New MicroHeatMapPresenter control that facilitates the creation of heat maps.
  • SyntaxEditor - Added a new NavigableSymbolSelector control, which can be used to provide type/member drop-down support for a language.
  • SyntaxEditor - Added a INavigableSymbolProvider language service, related types and samples.
  • SyntaxEditor .NET Languages Add-on - Implemented an INavigableSymbolProvider service on both the C# and VB languages, allowing for NavigableSymbolSelector support.
  • Improved designer support compatibility with VS 2012.

What’s new in WPF Studio 2011.2?

  • App-Wide Themes - Actipro Themes includes professionally-designed themes that cover all system and Office themes including high contrast mode.  The themes apply to all Actipro controls and optionally to native WPF controls.
  • Styles/Templates for Native WPF Controls - Enhanced styles and templates for all native WPF controls (TextBox, ToolBox, TreeView, etc.) are included.  These styles can be automatically applied app-wide via a single line of code.  Or you can choose to use them on specific controls only, accessible via pre-defined style keys.
  • Common Asset Pool - There are well over 800 asset resources for each of the system and Office themes supported. All custom and native control styles/templates use the same assets. This ensures that controls placed next to each other always render with similar colors that complement each other.
  • Advanced Tinting - Actipro Themes supports the tinting of any theme or portion of a theme towards a certain color. This means that you can take a built-in theme like the Office Silver theme, and make it a red one instead.
  • Appearance Improvements - Actipro Themes includes updated menu, toolbar, and statusbar appearances that were inspired by Visual Studio 2010’s look. The simplified design uses a darker workspace area, with lighter content areas in each docking window.  This higher contrast appearance focuses the end user's eye on the content without distracting it with non-active UI elements, thus making for a more effective user interface.
  • IntelliPrompt Parameter Info - Show information about each member signature being edited. This makes it easy to implement parameter info for your own custom languages. Parameter info can handle rich-formatted content display using HTML-like markup tags. Colors and font weights or styles can be used to bring attention to portions of the info tip. The .NET Languages Add-on has been updated to fully take advantage of the new parameter info feature. Both the C# and VB language implementations now have parameter info features out-of-the-box, making for a true Visual Studio-like code editing experience. When there are multiple overloads for a signature, the resolver will do its best to show the one that best fits the code that has been typed thus far.
  • Single-Line Edit Mode - Make the editor appear like a standard TextBox, where there are no scrollbars and line terminators are not accepted as input. While in single-line edit mode, nearly all the standard UI features found in SyntaxEditor are still available, such as automated IntelliPrompt, adornments, etc.
  • Code Fragment Editing - Edit a portion of a document, such as a method body or just an expression. The benefit of using code fragments is that you can also set up header and footer text to get pre- and post-appended to the text being edited. Since a complete document is then used for parsing and resolution, automated IntelliPrompt, code outlining, and other features work correctly on the fragment being edited.
