CarbonTools PRO extends the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for advanced location content handling, mapping and sharing. The CarbonTools PRO Commercial License is provided on a per developer basis and there are no royalties, fees or other limits on applications developed. Features of CarbonTools PRO include:

• New Framework for advanced mapping - CarbonTools PRO is built on the new Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework including controls such as a MulitMap, legend and geo-coding controls that take full advantage of this advanced platform.
• Geospatial interoperability - Handlers in CarbonTools PRO mean you can use the location content you want...wherever or whoever it comes from - Google Earth KML/KMZ, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) GML, WMS, WFS, WFS-T, WFS-G, WCS and Filter Encoding (FE), ESRI Shapefiles, Autodesk and MapInfo formats, OSGeo MapGuide, Yahoo! Maps and more.
• Seamless web mapping - With the new DataRasterTile component in CarbonTools Pro, you can easily handle the biggest interoperability challenge facing web mapping - making tile-based mapping services (like Microsoft Virtual Earth) work together with bounding-box based services like OGC web mapping. Furthermore, with CarbonTools PRO you can cache this content and use it offline in the application.
• Symbology engine for meaningful maps - The new GDI+ based Symbology engine including stacked Symbols, custom Renderers and many other advanced classes make it easy to create meaningful maps.
• Tools for working online or offline - Serialized, transportable geospatial session files (GSFs) are now an integrated part of CarbonTools PRO, allowing you to work offline with all types of location content, wherever, or whoever, it comes from.
• Internal Caching for performance -  Support for temporal data, new geometries and new Internal Caching tools provide maximum performance when working with location content - letting you create smart clients that store data from online sources so it can be used interactively while offline.
• Tools for creating and sharing location content - CarbonTools PRO lets you create ground-breaking new applications driven by content from your users -including the new PlaceList® Notes Management and Editor controls, Geocoder, Location Selector controls and more.
• Filter capabilities for OGC content – OGC Filters built into CarbonTools PRO let you handle large geospatial data sets and bring in meaningful and applicable data, saving time and resources by only analyzing the data relevant to geographic area or your analysis needs.

The Source-Handler-Data™ architecture makes working with many types of complicated geospatial content a task that can be easily handled by most software developers. Components in CarbonTools PRO help developers create hooks into specific data sources.  Data is turned into a software object that can be easily integrated into the application, either on its own or in combination with other data sources. A developer can bring in multiple data sources that work seamlessly together inside the application.

.NET developers can extend existing geospatial systems with new capabilities and content sources or build exciting new open-geospatial .NET applications. ((Echo))MyPlace and Gaia 3 are both free applications developed by The Carbon Project to show the functionality of CarbonTools PRO. CarbonTools PRO includes over 20 sample applications, including the complete source code for Gaia 3.

Using C#, a developer can easily add data from sources such as Yahoo! Maps, Microsoft Virtual Earth and ESRI Shapefiles with just a few lines of code. A key feature is its ability to transform (through .NET serialization) the content source, data and session into a blob of bytes called Geospatial Session Files (GSF). A GSF can be shared with other applications created with CarbonTools PRO.
