Licensing Explanation: When you buy 1 license you may use the software on your laptop computer and on your desktop computer, as long as the software is not used on the laptop and desktop computers concurrently. If you need to use the software concurrently on both the laptop and the desktop computer, then 2 licenses are required.  A team of 4 developers will need to buy 4 licenses as 1 license is required per developer using the product. You may not share the component parts of this product licensed to you with other developers, nor may you allow the use and/or installation of the components by other developers. You are be able to distribute the applications you create with the software free of charge, as the product is Run-time Royalty Free, subject to the special restrictions explained in the ComponentOne End User License Agreement (EULA).

Subscription Explanation: This product is sold with an annual subscription. The subscription entitles you to updates for this product for one year after purchase. Your subscription starts when you purchase the product and will expire one year later, at midnight on the previous day to the date purchased. For example if you purchase the product on 04/May/2010 then your subscription will expire at midnight on 03/May/2011. This is from date of purchase, and not date of registration. If you wish to continue to receive updates for this product after the first year, you will need to renew your subscription.

Excerpt from the ComponentOne End User License Agreement (EULA):

“2. Your Development License.  You are hereby granted a limited, royalty-free, non-exclusive right to use the SOFTWARE to design, develop, and test Developed Software, on the express condition that, and only for so long as, you fully comply with all terms and conditions of this EULA. 

The SOFTWARE is licensed to you on a Developer Seat License basis.

Developer Seat License basis means that you may perform an installation of the SOFTWARE for use in designing, testing and creating Developed Software by a single Developer on one or more computers, each with a single set of input devices, so long as 1) such computer/computers is/are used only by one single Developer at any given time and not concurrently and, 2) the user is the primary User to whom the license has been granted.  Conversely, you may not install or use the SOFTWARE on a computer that is a network server or a computer at which the SOFTWARE is used by more than one Developer.  You may not network the SOFTWARE or any component part of it, where it is or may be used by more than one Developer unless you purchase an additional Development License for each Developer.  You must purchase another separate license to the SOFTWARE in order to add additional developer seats, whether the additional developers are accessing the SOFTWARE in a stand-alone environment or on a computer network.”
