What's New in FarPoint Spread for SharePoint 2?

• Complete read/write data-binding to SQL Tables

The SQL Binding functionality now includes:

• Read/write data-binding for SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008
• Both Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication for SQL database access
• Binding to SQL Base Tables and SQL Table Views
• Base Table Update, Insert, and Delete Commands are auto-generated by the Web Part during the data-binding setup in the tool pane.  The commands are invoked as needed based on user interaction with the web part and changes are automatically written back to the SQL Server
• The SQL Commands are editable through the tool pane to allow the site owner to make customizations.  The ability to customize the commands gives users flexibility in managing SQL data updates, and provides the ability to update data directly to the SQL Data Tables, that is represented in SQL Views

The addition of SQL Data Binding fits with the other primary features of the product like:

• The ability to bind to SharePoint Lists providing a full binding experience where list data is not only read from lists, but changes are written back as well
• Provide a rich user interface for viewing and modifying list data
• Provide Row, Column, and Cell Formatting via built-in toolbar
• Provide Dynamic Filtering and Conditional Formatting
• SharePoint List View Customization integration – (Group-by, Totals, Sorting)
• Export your data to Excel (XLS and Excel 2007 XML) documents

• Modify existing data and insert new data through celltype editors that are set to the columns based on the SharePoint list column type definitions to provide built-in error checking and data validation. Personalize views of SharePoint lists by setting column format elements: backcolor, forecolor, font, and alignment through the use of the Spread for SharePoint Column Format bar.
• Receive visual cues from the format of data values by taking advantage of the built-in conditional formatting capabilities that can be easily set through the Spread for SharePoint Command bar.
• Perform data filtering through the use of the built-in Filter bar.
• Perform data sorting through the use of built-in sorting.
• Load and save personal and shared SharePoint list style settings.
• Save the current view of the data to a PDF, Excel 97-2003(XLS), or Excel 2007 XML(XLSX) document.
