Interactive and animated charts for ASP and ASP.NET applications. FusionCharts is a Flash charting component that can be used to render data-driven & animated charts for your Web applications. FusionCharts allows you to create interactive and professional looking charts quickly and easily. FusionCharts can be used with any Web scripting languages like .NET, ASP, JSP, PHP, ColdFusion, Ruby on Rails etc., to deliver interactive and eye catching Flash charts. You do not need to know anything about Flash to use FusionCharts. Since FusionCharts uses XML as its data source, it can work with any database.

Overview

FusionCharts is a set of Adobe Flash (SWF) files that helps you to create eye-catching animated charts. It makes full use of Adobe Flash to create compact, interactive and visually-interesting charts.

The component doesn’t need any installation, works with any scripting language, runs on a majority of browsers, is interactive, is completely scalable & flexible, and creates stunning animated charts.

FusionCharts helps you create real-time, data-driven, animated charts on the Web. Since the charts are controlled by XML data, FusionCharts can work with any scripting language (ASP.NET/ASP/PHP/ColdFusion/JSP etc) and any database (or other forms of data storage). It offers a host of 2D/3D charting styles including the basic column, bar, pie, area, line, to advanced combination and simulation (interactive) charts.

All the charts are rendered at client side using the widely installed Adobe Flash Platform. The server is just responsible for streaming the pre-built SWF files and your XML data files to the end viewers. From there on, Flash Player takes the onus of rendering the charts. Also, the chart SWF Files can be cached so that you can just update the data, and not send chart SWF files every time.

No installation hassles - To use FusionCharts, you do not have to install anything on your server. All you need to do is copy paste the SWF files (the core files of FusionCharts) to your server, just like you would do to any image files. So, even on those servers which do not allow installation of ActiveX or any other form of components, FusionCharts can run without any hassles

Easy to use - Since it uses XML as its data, all you need to do is convert your data into XML using a programming language or using the visual GUI provided in FusionCharts

Runs on a variety of platforms - Irrespective of what server side scripting language you're using, FusionCharts can be used to create charts in that. Since FusionCharts uses XML as the data interface, you can run it on any server and against any scripting language. Also, to view the charts, your users just need to have Adobe Flash Player 8

Reduces load on your servers

Features:

No need for an Active-X or external Component:

You do not need to install any external Active-X control or component to render charts. So even on those servers which do not have the components installed or do not allow installation of new components, FusionCharts can run smoothly. All you need to do is upload the core SWF files to the server and configure them via XML data files.

Animated Charts add to aesthetics of the site:

The charts made by Active-X controls or components are static GIF or JPEG files. But, the charts made by FusionCharts are slick looking animated charts whose looks and additional properties can easily be customized by the data XML file.

Compatible with many scripting languages:

FusionCharts is compatible with many scripting languages like ASP, ASP.NET, JSP, PHP, Perl, CGI, CF etc. As the processing is done on the client-side, it does not matter which scripting language is passing the data to the component. The component can also be customized to take data from text files and so it can work on a static server too (where text files or XML files containing data can be updated frequently).

Client Side Dynamic Data Changing:

You can manipulate FusionCharts with very few lines of client side scripts - i.e., you can build a completely new chart on the client side itself, without having to reload the page and the chart.

Many Additional features:

FusionCharts offers you a plethora of customization options like trend lines, trend zones, advanced support for missing data, advanced number formatting support, setting transparency, color themes, hotspots, hover captions etc. The best thing is that you can carry all of these customizations via the data XML File itself.

Load inside other Flash movies:

FusionCharts charts can be directly loaded inside other Flash movies without having to alter/customize anything

No-nonsense Licensing Policy:

Each license of FusionCharts allows you to deploy FusionCharts on unlimited test and production servers, unlimited websites, unlimited client access / Users and unlimited CPU's on a given server. In addition to saving thousands of dollars over existing solutions, the licensing simplifies deployment and testing for your team.

Full Source Code included:

FusionCharts licenses include the full source of Fusioncharts in Adobe Flash format. You can use this source code to modify any existing chart or utilize the base framework to create a completely new chart style.

Reduces Load on the Server:

FusionCharts reduces the load on the server to quite an extent as the processing work is done on the client-side. The client just needs to have Adobe Flash 6 player, which is very common nowadays. It is also shipped with the newer versions of the browsers.

Small Sized Component and therefore suitable for narrow bands:

The file size of the component is very small and therefore it is very suitable for the narrow band connections also.
