Hi,

I'm presently working with IBM Rational Functional Tester version 8.1.1.2 and with Internet Explorer 8.0. I seem to be having an issue with the recording and playback when I'm trying to enter characters (words, numbers, etc.) in a text field. Note that I do not have any issues with recording/playback of hyperlinks, tabs, etc. The problem seems to be only coming from data entry. Could any one help me with this problem??

Rational Functional Tester does not recognize a flex application when using firefox.

the version of the Rational funcional tester is the 8.1.1 and the firefox version is 3.6.
somebody know what is wrong?? thanks!

In order to record flex, you have to enable the application at compile time, or you have to set up for runtime enablement. You can't just record it like a web or java app.

hi,

I am Learning RFT..

I am trying to automate gtalk application ( Send and read chat message)

Example i am login as user1 in machine 1 and sending a message to user2 at machine 2. He will read the mesage and send one message back to user 1 at machine 1.
I am able to record for the sending side but done know how to record/write script to read the received message.

Please send the sample code for this.

I've an application(web based java application) which can be accessed only through browsers Netscape navigator 7.2 and firefox 2.0.011.

Could you please suggest as which version of RFT supports automation of the applications which can be accessed through Netscape navigator 7.2.

My question is whether RFT 8.1 or RFT 8.0 or RFT 7.0 or RFT 7.1 supports automation of the applications that are accessed by only Netscape navigator 7.2 version.

You can find information about training courses and resources on the IBM web site. Select "Services" then "Training" from the menu options.
You can search for information based on your country.

RFT 8 is compatible with:
• Java,
• HTML,
• .NET WinForms
• SAPGUI for Windows (4.6, 4.7) and SAPGUI for HTML (mySAP) applications
• Siebel (7.7, 7.8, & 8.0) applications
• Terminal-Based Applications - 3270 (zSeries®), 5250 (iSeries®) and VT100/VT220 (UNIX®)

Were you able to automate flexair application. Because i am also trying to do that and don't know how to make it work.

i want to test pdf document contents with IBM Rational functional tester.
i am working on windows platform.
i tried recording script .
i followed following steps
first open Acrobatreader
then open the pdf to test.
But i am not able to select any of pdf contents through RFT.
Can any one please guide me

You can do the following:

To start an application while recording:

During recording, click the Start Application button on the Recording toolbar.

The Start Application dialog box opens.

Click the arrow in the Application Name field to see the list of applications you can test.

Java applications will be indicated as "Application name - java", HTML applications will be indicated as "Application name - html", and executables or batch files as "Application name - executable".

Select the application you want to open and click OK.
The dialog box disappears and your application opens. Functional Tester inserts a startApp command into your script.
