I found the Navigator control easy to use and it has the functionality/flexibilty I needed. It is a shame (actually) that Microsoft does not have the ability to create/desire these controls and include them in Visual Studio. The price is right for the ComponentFactory Krypton controls, the functionality is great and the stability seems to be fine in the work that I have done so far.

I evaluated this control as a replacement for the built in tab control in VS2005, which could not do something as simple as change the tab color.

The Krypton Navigator is extremely flexible, has a ton of built in modes or looks, including Outlook.

Ultimately though, this control has way too many properties to navigate. Something as simple as setting the text and tab color take minutes of drilling down through layer upon layer of properties. While controlling every detail is nice, it makes for very cumbersome setup.
