Add a WYSIWYG HTML editor to your browser based solutions or applications. pinEdit is a WYSIWYG HTML editor that runs in your browser without ActiveX, Applet or Plug-Ins or in your application as ActiveX or .Net WinForm. pinEdit offers a lot of interfaces to different technologies. There are rich formatting capabilities like fonts, colors, justifiying etc. Files can be loaded and saved from/to a server by dialogs. Text modules can be created by users and saved on sever.

• New high level design - For the best look and feel for your web applications
• New formatting engine - The formatting engine has been completely reworked. The new formatting mode supports non-hierarchical formatting. A lot of effort has been invested to give the user a good editing experience and to come very close to a word processing system.

What's new in V6.0?

• XML Toolbar - pinEdit toolbars can now be defined by XML. This allows customizing all details of toolbar objects including callback function. This feature makes it very easy to add own toolbar objects or modify existing ones. A toolbar configuration file for HTML and WP mode is included
• Upload in sub folders - During image or file upload the destination folder can now be selected. Additionally new folders can be created or renamed.
• XHTML 1.1 support - The editor can be configured to return XHTML compliant content
• HTML Optimizer - The HTML Optimizer includes W3C "Tidy" for correcting invalid HTML code and a multi-stage code optimizer
• Content Exchange Optimization (i.e. for MS Word) - The HTML Optimizer allows pasting of contents of all kinds of external sources i.e. MS Word or PDF files. After pasting content the HTML optimizer creates clean code for optimized editing
• Extended formatting options - pinEdit allows formatting text by

• New, Use of external stylesheets - A new button allows selecting a style sheet by open dialog and assigning to current document. The new style elements are automatically filled in the style dropdown. An existing external style sheet can also be removed from the current document.
• New, Integration of pinEditStyle - The new Online CSS Editor "pinStyle" has been fully integrated in pinEdit and is now available as an add-on.

What’s new in V5.1

• Display of invisible characters - Special characters like a soft or hard line break are now displayed visually by an icon like in a word processor.  This can be turned on or off via a button on the toolbar.
• Resizing columns with mouse - Columns can now be resized by mouse. When moving mouse cursor close to a cell border a dotted red line is displayed.
• When you click the left mouse button the current column width is resized. This features works best with new static table feature
• Better MSOffice support - You can now setup the editor in the "Controlled Office mode" which means that when you press ctrl+v a new editor window is opened where you can paste content first. You are now able to clean content before inserting. So only the inserted content is modified
• Static tables - When using static tables the width doesn't change which is more convenient for inexperienced users. The table mode can be changed via the content menu.
• Remove multiple cells – It is now possible to select multiple cells of a table and remove content

• New 2 in 1 web editing component with web word processor mode and html mode
• New Sidebar and statusbar - The new sidebar offers additional space for displaying buttons. The status bar allows displaying strings during run time
• New No more "font" tags - The font tags have been replaces by style attributes. This allows more detailled font sizes. The measure of fonts like px or pt can be set.

• Optimized architecture - The file size has been significantly reduced compared to the original size. Include files are loaded only if they are used. Loading should be faster now
• Redesigned dialogs with style editor - All dialogs have been completely overworked. New attributes have been added. Each dialog has now a style editor, where you have directly access to most important styles
• Full relative URL support - Relative URLs for images, links, stylesheets etc. are now fully supported. A base reference can be set and all relative URLs are based on this reference. The entered URLs are not changed or converted to absolute URLs. The entered values like "../../image.gif" are retained. Changing relative URLs in HTML area is also supported
• Attribute window - An attribute window has been added on the right side of the editor. After a mouse click within the editor all data in the attribute window is updated
• Document view - A Word like document view has been implemented as new design element
• Readonly mode - The editor can be set into read only mode
• Document properties - A new dialog has been added for editing document properties like title, meta tags and body style
• Full page mode - The editor has a full page mode to fit the editors size to current window
• Toolbar update color - The current color and back color are updated in toolbar

• Display of wrong tags - Unknown tags are displayed in a special color in HTML area

• pinToolbar included in pinEdit A full license of pinToolbar is now included in pinEdit. The toolbar and the editor are now completely independant from each other for maximum flexibility. All features of the built-in toolbar are now available for pinToolbar integration.
• New! HierarchyBar A new hierarchy bar displays the current tag hierarchy after mouse down. If mouse is moved over the hierarchy bar the item in the editor is highlighted.

pinEdit includes an HTML client with JavaScript code running within the browser and a server part using Java and running within a servlet engine or an application server. The client communicates with server using standard HTML features. Therefore no ActiveX or Applets are needed. There is a client side API for using functionality with JavaScript and a server API for offering open backend processing like reading opening/saving documents on the server and processing text modules.

pinEditSpell (a spelling component) is available for pinEdit. Also available is pinEditPDF is a new member of the pinEdit add-on series which allows creating PDF files online

To integrate pinEdit without modification include just one HTML file in your application and copy the pinEdit core files to your app.
