What's new in SecureBlackbox 12.0

  • General changes:
    • More memory management improvements have been made. In .NET edition it is important to call Dispose() method on all objects which support this method once you have finished using those objects.
  • SSHBlackbox:
    • Port knocking functionality has been added to SSH forwarding components

What's new in SecureBlackbox 11.0
The most significant new features and improvements are listed below.

General changes:

  • The code has been reworked for more efficient memory management.
  • ASiC (Associated Signature Container, ETSI TS 102 918) components have been added. ASiC is a new European standard for signing data.
  • IPv6 support has been added to certificate management and validation functions.
  • Port knocking functionality added to socket-based client components.
  • In .NET edition SecureBlackbox now supports Xamarin.iOS.

SSHBlackbox:

  • Added TElSSHKey.FingerprintMD5String and TElSSHKey.FingerprintSHA1String properties that return a fingerprint formatted into a string.
  • Added support for SSH key exchange obfuscation, as defined in https://github.com/brl/obfuscated-openssh

SSHBlackbox package of SecureBlackbox
SSH (Secure Shell) was originally developed by commercial organization for securing remote shell access. The protocol supports compression and tunneling multiple TCP connections over one secured connection. Thanks to these features SSH gained popularity, especially in Unix/Linux environments, and became an IETF-approved standard.

SSHBlackbox lets you connect to remote servers via SSH protocol or to create your own SSH servers (server-side components are available in VCL and .NET editions). You can access remote shell, execute remote commands, use secure port forwarding functionality and also use SSH for custom data exchange. SFTP (File Transfer functions of SSH) is available with SFTPBlackbox.

SSH supports various authentication schemes such as password-based, public key or keyboard-interactive, allowing the client authorize itself using several schemes at the same time. SSHBlackbox also supports PKI infrastructure for server and client authentication based on X.509 certificates. This type of authentication is supported by some SSH servers on the market.

SSHBlackbox has been tested with all popular SSH servers and clients, available on the market, including software from SSH Communications, F-Secure, OpenSSH and more.

SSHBlackbox does not use CryptoAPI, OpenSSH or other third-party encryption library. To perform cryptographic functions and for PKI operations SSHBlackbox uses PKIBlackbox, base functions of which are included with SSHBlackbox package.

SSHBlackbox is offered as an individual package and as a part of Professional, Standard and Transports packages.

SSHBlackbox Feature list
SSH Protocol implementation contains the following features, common to both client-side and server-side components:

  • support for SSH 2 protocol in client and server components;
  • support for SSH 1 protocol in client components;
  • support for public-key, host-based, password-based, keyboard-interactive, GSS-API (Kerberos, NTLM, custom schemes), OpenPGP key and X.509 certificate authentication;
  • support for use of multiple authentication types at the same time;
  • flexible support for key validation;
  • support for RSA and DSA public key algorithms;
  • data encryption with AES (128 to 256 bit), Triple DES (3DES), DES, Blowfish, Twofish, Serpent (128 to 256 bit), CAST128 algorithms;
  • integrity checking using SHA1 and MD5 algorithms;
  • ZLib compression;
  • asynchronous operation mode which lets you easily build synchronous and asynchronous applications;
  • data transfer using events/callbacks, i.e. possibility to secure not only socket-based, but also other types of data exchange
  • (optional) FIPS-compliant operation mode

SSH Tunnels are supported by client-side and server-side components. Support options include:

  • support for shell, command, port forwarding (local and remote), X11 and custom subsystem tunnels;
  • support for SFTP subsystem (SFTPBlackbox is required);
  • support for dynamic tunnels (SSH2 only). With dynamic tunnels one can create and close logical connections within single SSH connection;
  • possibility to create custom subsystem handlers

SSH Keys management lets you create and manage SSH keys, necessary to authenticate the clients and servers in SSH mode. Key management offers:

  • generation of RSA and DSA (DSS) keys;
  • saving and loading of SSH keys in OpenSSH, IETF and PuTTY formats;
  • support for key length from 512 to 16384 bits;

ElSimpleSSHClient is a basic SSH client, which encapsulates several SSH components inside and offers:

  • shell or command tunnel inside;
  • (optional) built-in TCP socket with support for WebTunneling (HTTP CONNECT) and SOCKS proxies;
  • synchronous interface;
  • bandwidth control;
  • IPv6 support;
  • DNSSEC support

PKI Infrastructure - besides SSH features, SSHBlackbox includes base functions of PKIBlackbox.
