If you want to communicate with a Siemens SPS, you have to observe certain circumstances, e.g. timeouts, the number of repeats, packet size, checksum, receipts and the resolution of sender conflicts, before the SPS accepts Your data (reading / writing, addresses, values). This is taken care for you by the SuperCom 3964/R protocol engine. The SuperCom 3964/3964R protocol engine is a multi threaded process that works transparently in the background. All actions are reported to the user application by events.

The Supercom 3964/3964R protocol engine scans the receive direction for data to be received. If a complete packet is received it is stored in a FIFO (First In First Out) buffer. In addition the engine fires events to synchronize the application.

The protocol engine can store up to 32000 data packages in each direction. Applications have a lot of time to retrieve the received data packets.

Every packet to be transmitted is stored in a FIFO buffer and will be transmitted immediately after the engine is idle. The engine also reports events to the application.

The 3964/3964R protocol engine is very easy to use. Setting one SuperCom ActiveX property enables the protocol engine.
