SAVE-IT Catalog is a mature, technology independent, reuse infrastructure offered as an XML SOAP Web service to help automate the SAVE-IT Process® and drive reuse behavior within an organization. SAVE-IT Catalog provides the ComponentSource public marketplace and one or more private marketplaces to the user organization.

SAVE-IT Catalog is a mature, technology independent, Web service-based reuse infrastructure, which to date has facilitated millions of reuse transactions via ComponentSource's public marketplace. It helps automate the SAVE-IT Process and drives reuse behavior within an organization. To achieve this, SAVE-IT Catalog provides two types of marketplaces to the user organization: the ComponentSource public marketplace and one or more private marketplaces. The organization's intranet-based private marketplace is where the trade and exchange of internally developed software assets is driven, and is integrated with ComponentSource's public marketplace which supplements an organization's internal component supply with thousands of tried and tested Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components so that build versus buy decisions can be made clearly at application design time.
Offered as an XML SOAP Web service, it has a rapid implementation cycle and uniquely eliminates many upfront and ongoing maintenance and infrastructure costs required by other approaches for asset management. SAVE-IT Catalog, moreover, can be deployed amongst any number of developers. The solution is highly scalable, facilitating large-scale reuse across divisions and geographical boundaries, and as a Web service requires minimum deployment costs as the solution scales up.
A major differentiator for SAVE-IT Catalog is that its deployment is of minimal impact to the developer and business environment, which removes a further barrier to reuse. Because the infrastructure is exposed via XML SOAP APIs, developers within the organization are also able to discover, evaluate and procure reusable software assets on their private marketplace from within the development environment or tool of their choice. Additionally, it may be used to provide a common view of multiple metadata repositories and can easily integrate with an organization's existing business systems including ERP, workflow, purchasing and CRM systems.
