Many of you will have seen our new Kanji paper catalog for the Japanese marketplace. Our Tokyo office created a “Beta Version” for distribution to our customers in Japan and at a major trade show in Japan. Many thanks to our charter partners who supported us by advertising in this launch issue! This is your chance to appear in our Japanese paper catalog – to be distributed in November and December of 2004. If you would like us to list your products in our Japanese Paper Catalog or if you would like to advertise in our Japanese Paper Catalog then please let us know. This is a unique opportunity to reach a new group of customers in the rapidly expanding Japanese component and developer tool marketplace. Please email chrisb@componentsource.com if you would like your products to appear.
I hope you have all had a great vacation or holiday season during the summer months. As we all return to our desks and look forward to the very busy period between now and the end of the year – I thought I would let you reflect on another view of how important setting your price at the right level can be. Yes - I know you know what ComponentSource thinks about price – but how about getting an opinion from another publisher – one of your peers? I read with great interest the excellent article by Eric Sink of SourceGear on MSDN entitled - Product Pricing Primer - I think this is a very good piece of work based on real world experience. My thanks to Eric and also to Jonathan Zufi of busineSMS.com Software for making sure I studied it in detail. Email harryk@componentsource.com if you would like our advice on your licensing and pricing model.
New Bestseller Lists by $ Value! We have changed the Bestseller Lists on the latest Web Site design to sort by the $ value of sales in the last 4 weeks. The Bestseller lists were previously ranked by the number of licenses or units sold in the last 4 weeks – but we have now changed this to be based on total $ value of sales in the last 4 weeks. So those of you getting large orders for high value products will find yourselves a bit higher up on our Bestseller lists now. Don’t worry – we have kept the old Bestseller Top 50 list “as is” and this shown in your “My Account” area where you log on the see your on-line Sales report. The “old Bestseller” list shows the Top 50 for the previous calendar month, sorted by “licenses or unit volume” sold. If you have any questions about this please email: harryk@componentsource.com
