There are lots of new technologies emerging and our customers are starting to ask about products that will work and support them - are you ready for your next move? If you are a component publisher you will probably have already moved to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and/or Silverlight platforms. Our customers are buying WPF product editions in good numbers now, although a lot of people are still using Windows Forms (WinForms) and ASP.NET controls.
So what about your next move? What platform or technologies are you going to look at for future product development? With the Microsoft Build Conference coming up in September one thought would be to move to look at supporting HTML5 for your customers. Have you looked at HTML5 yet? What about JavaScript? jQuery is certainly worthwhile looking at in more detail - we have commercial products on our Web site that support jQuery and that are selling already.
What about the Cloud and Mobile phone support? Microsoft has set up specific resources around cloud and Azure, as well as for Windows Phone 7 in the mobile arena. You have lots of new areas to look at and I am sure that these new technologies and platforms will keep you busy developing and programming new product releases - in plenty of time for a 2012 launch!

P.S. And have you already moved your existing products to support 64bit? |

Many of you will have heard ComponentSource discuss this before, but there are other markets for you to consider too you know! If you have programming tools or controls aimed at Visual Studio - then have you looked at Visual Studio LightSwitch as a new potential market yet? We have several LightSwitch Store areas on our Web site already. You could find a new type of programmer to target in the LightSwitch space.
Or have you considered aiming at the SQL Server database tool market? There are lots of people out there with SQL Server licenses on multiple servers - struggling to access data, manage their data, back it up, move it, compare it, update it in a reliable manner. Can you help them with your software ideas? And it is not just about SQL Server - don't forget the Oracle database market opportunity - it is massive too!
SharePoint is a massive success story for Microsoft with millions of users - so this is a major market sector for you to look at - full of opportunities. SharePoint is still viewed by some people as a specialist niche market sector and as such is under-served with commercial products. This means there is an opportunity for you to evaluate the SharePoint market and see if you can help SharePoint users or SharePoint Farm managers look after their fast growing user base. Do you have any ideas for new utilities and tools to help SharePoint customers?

Did you know that we also have a Visual Studio LightSwitch Store?
Yes - this went live in July when Microsoft launched LightSwitch! Do you have products that work with and support Visual Studio LightSwitch? If so - make sure you get them listed in our Visual Studio LightSwitch Store!
