Looking back it has been a busy year! We started with deciding to market more heavily with our paper catalogs and in print in 2009, a risk that has been rewarded with strong sales in a tough year. Maybe we were ahead of the game? I notice that Google is now using print advertising heavily to promote Chrome, so maybe print and billboards are not dead after all? You may not see all the print advertising that we do, as you may not get all the magazines that we advertise in globally in the US, the UK, France, Germany, Japan and South Korea. Following our annual Awards announcements in Feb & Mar we moved ahead with our Asia/Pac expansion and launched the Chinese language editions of our Web site, to work alongside our existing Japanese and Korean sites. Both Simplified and Traditional Chinese languages are available.
In Q2 we broke through the 1,000,000 registered Web site user barrier and won some notable awards from SD Times - both of which we shouted about quite heavily at the time! You may have seen the spinning odometer on our home page for a few months after that. Something that we did not shout about too much at the time was our acquisition of the Xtras.net Web site in June. People visiting the Xtras.net Web site are now directed to buy from our Web site using our awarding winning, global, multi-lingual, multi-currency customer service.
Q3 saw us continue our increased paper catalog marketing in the US with insertions in Visual Studio Magazine, following on from previous insertions in MSDN Magazine & SD Times. August and September were very busy sales months, with September being our 2nd highest sales month ever! In both Q2 and Q4 we continued this enhanced marketing activity in both Europe and Asia/Pac with additional catalog insertions in dot.net magazine in Germany, Programmez! magazine in France and Micro Software magazine in Korea.
In October we celebrated our 14th birthday - so remember if you need licensing and pricing advice - we have 14+ years of market experience to assist you. We followed this in November with two separate launches - our usual Holiday Season offer for product marketing and the launch of our new NEWS SERVICE on the Web site. This helps highlight new releases, new patches, new products and press releases on our site with RSS feeds - plus it is more visible on our home page and other parts of our Web site. We slightly re-designed the Web site too - with some new features - the eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted the new ZOOM feature to see screen-shots more easily on the site.
So what does 2010 look like? Well if it starts as well as the current year is ending - then it will be a boom year. We are seeing very strong sales in November and December...so let's hope this continues. With the launch of Visual Studio 2010 scheduled for March, we expect to see lots of new products releases that will help our customers move forward with their new projects! So make sure you keep us informed about all your launch plans for Q1 and Q2 next year and we will do our best to let our 1,000,000+ audience know all about them...
