When you launch your new V1.0 product it is a good idea to have a 3 year product plan in place. Many publishers have a very good idea of their technology road-map for their product and often focus solely on what the next V2.0 version will have as a feature set. However - it is equally important to have a 3 year product plan based around product editions, versions and the target license model or price structure that you would like to have in place in the future. For example - when you launch NewProduct V1.0 - your initial price may be $599 per developer. A year later - when you launch NewProduct V2.0 Std Edition at $649, you may wish to introduce a V2.0 Prof Edition at $799 with more features than the Std Edition. In two years time - when you launch NewProduct Std Edition V3.0 at $749, you can have the V3.0 Prof Edition at $999 and the fully featured V3.0 Enterprise Edition at $1,499. Try and keep your 3 year product plan and pricing model in mind as you plan your product feature sets and editions. We regularly check our publishers Web sites for news, new releases, price changes and licensing changes. Recently we have found that many of our publishers have inconsistencies and discrepancies in their End User License Agreements (EULAs). Have you updated your license details on your Web site recently? Do your Web site licensing details accurately match the EULA that is included with the installation script for your products? Have you made it easy for a customer to understand your license restrictions? For example - we found a publisher Web site that stated that the product was licensed "per developer" and had no run-time licenses for deployment - but then went on to say that if you were deploying it on a server, you needed another license on the server too. Yet the actual EULA included in the product, that the customer clicked the "I agree" to during installation, stated that the product was licensed on a "per server" basis. If you want to help boost your sales - make your licensing statements clear and easy to follow for your customers and check that your product EULA matches the license statements on your Web site. There are lots of different ways to find and view your products on our Web site - for example a user can browse our Web site by one of our 100+ product business categories - such as Charting & Graphing and view products that provide this functionality. They can then filter or refine this browse further by technology platform to view only .NET WinForms Charting & Graphing products. The Web site will sort the product list to present all the products that have Charting & Graphing as their Primary Business Category first and then list those products that have Charting & Graphing as their Secondary Business Category. The Best Sellers, Top Downloads, Top Reviews and New Releases pages all work in a similar manner with this sort sequence - showing products in the Primary Business Category first. Your products can have one (1) single Primary Business Category and as many Secondary Business Categories as you wish - as long as they are relevant. You may wish to check that your products are in the most appropriate Primary Business Category and all the relevant Secondary Business Categories so that you are getting the best exposure on our Web site.
