On July 10th Microsoft announced the release of Silverlight 3. This is not just a way for Microsoft to take on Adobe with their Flash and Flex Rich Internet App (RIA) solutions; Silverlight 3 goes beyond giving you the ability to just create a great looking app. With this new launch, Silverlight arguably goes a step ahead of Adobe, by giving you out of the browser capability using the same core technology platform.
With the Adobe solution you build your in browser app using Flash and/or Flex. Then you need to use AIR to get out of browser support for your app and this means additional design and coding work, using a different technology than you initially used inside the browser. With Silverlight 3 you get both in browser and out of browser app support, but for less time and effort on architecture, design and coding - as it is based on the same core technology.
Microsoft has also claimed that with Silverlight 3 they go far ahead of any RIA that can be built today in Java, even those built using JavaFX. Which means that the Silverlight 3 launch allows Java developers a chance to compare and contrast the latest Silverlight technology with JavaFX, before deciding which way to jump for their next app?
Make sure you take a good look at the latest releases for Silverlight 3 - as there are definitely some major market opportunities ahead for you with new Silverlight products in the coming months! It should make 2010 a very interesting year...

As you know we run 4 different publisher program tiers here at ComponentSource - namely - Enterprise Partner, Corporate Partner, Professional Partner and the entry-level Author tier. As part of these programs you are entitled to specific marketing benefits on our Web site and in our Email newsletters. We also print paper catalogs in English, Japanese & Korean and some of you may have optionally chosen to appear in these catalogs with full page adverts. If you have any questions about the marketing benefits you are entitled to based on your program tier, they are explained on our Web site in this table under sections 3 & 4 describing our Marketing Services.
Publisher Program Details
If you have any questions about this and about booking your adverts - please make sure you get in touch with Chris Brooke and Kerry West using the email addresses below. Chris and Kerry will then help you book and organize your multi-lingual Web site and email newsletter adverts.
They are also in charge of sending you the latest Web site statistics for your products. For example - if you are in the Professional Partner program tier we schedule to send you the Web site statistics 3 months after your products have been first listed on the site, as part of our first review. We then send you the statistics again 6 months later, as part of our next review of marketing activities and sales results. So in the Professional Partner program you get the statistics sent to you twice a year as part of our product review process. If you are in the Enterprise or Corporate Partner tier you get this data quarterly, along with your quaterly review and if you are in the Author tier you get this data at least once per year, usually after the first 6 months have passed.
