SmartExcel4TFS is a Microsoft Excel plug-in that automates the generation of user defined content from Microsoft Team Foundation Server including Requirements Traceability Matrix, Defect Analysis Matrix and Work Item Decomposition Matrix. With SmartExcel4TFS a large volume of work items and relationships can be visualized and organized from a variety of different perspectives from within Microsoft Excel. SmartExcel4TFS is essentially a reporting and analysis tool that help virtually all actors in the ALM stage.

SmartExcel4TFS Features

  • Access Any Team Project - Connect SmartExcel4TFS to any team project including the ones based on CMMI, SCRUM, Agile or custom process templates. Generate a traceability matrix for a project, portfolio or across multiple projects.
  • Generate Intersection Traceability Matrix - Automatically generate an Intersection Traceability Matrix. Displays work items as rows and columns, with the intersecting cells revealing that links exist between work items. Furthermore, you can view user-selected properties in the intersection cells either text based or color coded.
  • Keep Track of Requirements to Test Coverage - Using a Requirements Traceability Matrix, you can analyze test coverage, test status by configuration, missing links as well as impact assessment.
  • Generate Work Item Decomposition Matrix - Visualize Work Item decomposition in Excel and share this report with others. 
  • View and Edit Work Item Details - Access and modify Work Item details from within Excel. All the updates are saved in Team Foundation Server.
  • Get Updated Data from TFS - Use Refresh functionality to get updated data from TFS in your generated matrix. This makes sure to always view the latest matrix report, based on the saved parameters.
  • Save Input Configuration - Save input parameters without executing any traceability matrix. Saving Configuration helps to retain the last provided parameters and enables to generate traceability matrix on that configuration later.
