Start typing into FastFind and it will show you anything that is relevant to your search.

There are quick in-dialog options for controlling individual searches, such as whether to return text matches, file matches or both, whether to match case, to restrict to words or whether to use full regular expressions. By default FastFind allows * for wildcards.

More extensive options are available in the main VS option page. Here you can control which files are indexed and how results are returned. You can also fully customise the display colours to make FastFind fit in to your existing setup.

In addition to the options you can perform more complex searched inline using the extension modifiers. Add these entension in to your search. These are "AND" and "OR" for logical combination searches. "CASE" turns CASE on for the search and "WORD" matches only full words.

FastFind can be shown as a modal dialog which is displayed when activated and disappears when you jump to a file, or can be shown as a docked window that is always visiblwe. You can find FastFind to any key in the Visual Studio key mappings page. In docked mode F8 will jump to the next match.
