SpaceObServer Licensing

If you need to discuss your licensing requirements for SpaceObServer, please contact our JAM Software licensing specialists.

One software license is required per user.
Each license includes an Updates and Support Maintenance for 1, 2 or 3 years. Within the selected maintenance period you will get free updates and support, the license itself is perpetual.
The number of licenses you buy must be greater or equal to the number of workstations where the software is available for execution.

One license of SpaceObServer covers one installation. SpaceObServer can scan network paths via UNC or mapped drives. If you have the Enterprise Edition you can install SpaceObServer on one server to observe multiple machines. Because of the performance and the workload of the observing server it is not recommended you scan more than 3-5 scan targets with one server, but this depends totally on the size of the file system structures to scan on each server and the scan frequency. If you are using SpaceObServer in a clustered environment, you need one license per node you install SpaceObServer on.

SpaceObServer in a Clustered Environment
You can use SpaceObServer in a clustered server environment by installing it on one of the nodes. That means that a node fail over is not handled, but scheduled scans will be started automatically after the node is running again.
You can also install SpaceObServer on each node. If you do so, you have to change the observing server for the scanned roots to each of the nodes, or to none. You can configure the observing server in the edit field "Observing Server" in the "Expert Settings" tab of the "Configure Scans" dialog ("Scan > Configure Scans").
Leave the observing service blank to allow any SpaceObServer service to execute scheduled scans. You can enter multiple servers, separated by semicolon (";"). By default, local drives are stored in the database in their UNC convention (e.g.: "C:\" -> "\\\C$\"). To ensure that each node is able to scan these drives you have to scan "\\LOCALHOST\C$\" instead.

For each node you install SpaceObServer on you need one license
