About WebCoverFlow

Add advanced online media browsing to your web applications.

WebCoverFlow lets you browse and play multimedia instantly in a cool, modern cover flow interface. WebCoverFlow also comes with an enhanced flow logic mechanism, providing significantly more fluid animation. Intersoft’s VirtualFlow technology enables you to display nearly any number of covers with no performance degradation. You can load hundreds, even thousands of images without excessive memory consumption. Powered by Intersoft’s Load On Demand technology, with VirtualFlow pictures are retrieved asynchronously as needed and released as they become unnecessary. WebCoverFlow supports most browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, Gecko based, etc.).

Originally introduced in the first release of WebAqua, WebCoverFlow lets you browse and play multimedia instantly in a cool, modern cover flow interface. WebCoverFlow also comes with an enhanced flow logic mechanism, providing significantly more fluid animation and taking advantage of Silverlight 3’s new layout architecture.

WebCoverFlow Features:

Powerful VirtualFlow mechanism
Intersoft’s VirtualFlow technology enables you to display nearly any number of covers with no performance degradation. You can load hundreds, even thousands of images without excessive memory consumption. Powered by Intersoft’s advanced Load On Demand technology, with VirtualFlow pictures are retrieved asynchronously as needed and released as they become unnecessary. VirtualFlow is specially useful in very demanding applications that require high scalability, such as image and video centered knowledge bases.

Element-to-element binding
Silverlight 3 introduces new element binding feature that simplifies the binding between multiple User Interface objects. Leveraging this new feature, you can now easily populate WebCoverFlow items from various data sources – such as WcfDataSource and DomainDataSource – with a simple declarative syntax.

Easy data binding to .NET RIA Services
Fine tuned to support .NET RIA Service, WebCoverFlow lets you instantly build a business 3-D multimedia presenter which connects to your database via DomainDataSource control. Together with VirtualFlow, WebCoverFlow delivers the smoothest cinematic experiences by enabling users to flip through hundreds or thousands of items without performance slowdown.

Out of Browser (OOB) support
FishEye now fully supports Out of Browser, a new feature in Silverlight 3 for building RIA applications that run on the desktop. It enables the application to be placed in a restricted store on the user’s machine; and then provide a link directly to it from the user’s desktop or start menu for quick access.

Slideshow and easy navigation
CoverFlow supports both automatic slideshow and user navigation modes, allowing you to easily build richly interactive multimedia web applications. WebCoverFlow has a set of defaults so comprehensive that in most cases you can create your media show by simply assigning the datasource to the WebCoverFlow control.

Varied view modes
In addition to the usual default perspective mode, WebCoverFlow supports a scale mode. In perspective mode, covers display at a specified perspective angle. However, in Intersoft’s innovative scale mode, covers are arranged backward on Z-depth to create elegant visual effects. Several properties allow you to configure this richly interactive viewing style.

Video playback mode
CoverFlow doesn’t simply dynamically display images; it also showcases videos like no application you’ve seen. With full support for all Silverlight-compliant video formats such as WMV, VC-1 and MP3, items detected as video type will automatically launch the video player inside the cover’s boundary. Known as “Inline video playing”, this feature allows you to quickly preview a video without having to leave the current screen area. WebCoverFlow also supports full screen playback and two video download modes: video buffering and video downloading.

Multiple focus mode
Along with the standard single focused item mode, WebCoverFlow supports a multiple focused item mode, allowing you to set the desired number of focused items (the default is three). An additional enhancement allows you to set the border as well.
