Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (MS VB.NET) allows VB.NET programmers to create Windows applications for their end users fast. VB.NET developers can extend the standard functionality available inside the VB.NET IDE with a variety of VB.NET add-ins and VB.NET tools. The extensibility of VB.NET software is one of the main reasons it has proved to be so popular with .NET developers, as Visual Basic software engineers can find VB.NET downloads from other companies or other developers to act as a VB.NET extension to their VB.NET IDE.
The versatility of VB.NET also extends to various forms of VB.NET software components. VB.NET controls can be used to create feature rich VB.NET user interfaces on forms and Web pages for VB.NET apps. These VB.NET UI controls are augmented by non-visual VB.NET components or VB.NET libraries that can help a developer add many hidden features in VB.NET applications running in the background. These non-visual components are commonly available as a VB.NET library, VB.NET Class library or as a VB.NET component.
An example of a visual VB.NET control is Janus GridEx for .NET, a VB.NET WinForm control that allows you to create an MS Outlook style or look and feel to your latest VB.NET project. A non-visual VB.NET component example is a Visual Basic compatible product that allows you to transfer files over the Internet via HTTP or FTP protocols, or to add further security by using the HTTPS protocol for transferring files in your VB.NET app.
The VB.NET software products listed in this VB.NET product gallery will allow you to save a lot of time and effort in creating your new VB.NET app. Whether you are looking for a VB.NET plug-in or VB.NET utility, or you are looking for a VB.NET control or a VB.NET component, you will be able to find a wide variety of VB.NET tools to help you finish your project faster. Many of the products listed here have free VB.NET trials available as a VB.NET download from our VB.NET marketplace.
We also have other Visual Basic product galleries for: Visual Basic 2010, Visual Basic 2008, Visual Basic 2005 and Visual Basic compatible products.
What is UWP? UWP stands for Universal Windows Platform which is a platform-homogeneous application architecture created by Microsoft and first introduced in Windows 10. The purpose of this software platform is to help develop Metro-style apps that run on both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile without the need to be re-written for each. It supports Windows application development using C++, C#, VB.NET, or XAML. The API is implemented in C++, and supported in C++, VB.NET, C#, and JavaScript. Designed as an extension to the Windows Runtime platform first introduced in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8, the UWP allows developers to create applications that will potentially run on multiple types of devices.
The UWP is an extension of the Windows Runtime. Universal Windows apps that are created using the UWP no longer indicate having been written for a specific OS in their manifest build; instead, they target one or more device families, such as a PC, smartphone, tablet, or Xbox One, using Universal Windows Platform Bridges. These extensions allow the app to automatically utilize the capabilities that are available to the particular device it is currently running on. A universal app may run on either a mobile phone or a tablet and provide suitable experiences between the two. A universal app running on a mobile phone may start behaving the way it would if it were running on a tablet when the mobile phone is connected to a desktop computer or a suitable docking station.
