Deploy your application on any platform. InstallAnywhere Enterprise Edition is designed to install any kind of software -- desktop, enterprise, or multi-tiered Web services - onto any platform, and to configure those applications for optimal performance. Whether you're creating applications written in Java, C++, PERL, or C#, or deploying EJBs or .NET Web services, all of the installation details are handled automatically. InstallAnywhere Enterprise Edition simplifies complex installations and provides maximum developer customization, along with extensive user interaction, client/server features and localization for 31 languages.

Benefits

Create One Installer Project for Multiple Platforms and Multiple Languages

InstallAnywhere deploys software onto any client or server platform, handles all of the complexities automatically and configures your software exactly the way you want it every time. InstallAnywhere supports the latest editions of Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX, NetWare, and many more. And with built in support for 31 languages, you'll be deploying software to international markets in no time. Whether you’re creating applications written in Java, C++, PERL or C#, deploying EJBs or .NET Web services, RPM’s InstallAnywhere is designed to install and configure software – desktop, enterprise, or multi-tiered Web services – onto any platform, in one installer project.

Build Installers in Your Language

InstallAnywhere's developer environment, including the six-step Project Wizard and the Advanced Designer, is now available in localized language versions. Developers who speak French, German, and Japanese can author multiplatform installers using their native language. Create installers for the full range of platforms and all 31 target languages supported by InstallAnywhere.

Lowers Development and Support Costs

Having one installer for multiple platforms shortens time to market and lowers costs through shorter development times, simpler documentation, rapid QA, and fewer support calls. InstallAnywhere is packed with dozens of pre-built actions and panels, so you can build and deploy a single universal installer quickly and intuitively. Create installer functionality once: innovative Merge Modules and Templates can be re-used across development teams, product lines, and even ported along with your application in OEM applications. And InstallAnywhere's collaborative architecture lets multiple authors create installers on different platforms, saving valuable and expensive development time.

Best End-User Experience

Use your custom graphics, animation, and transparent images to create the ideal user experience that matches your software's unique look and feel. InstallAnywhere eases software deployment by creating a single powerful installer that functions on many platforms and behaves like a native application.

Five Minutes to Build an Installer

InstallAnywhere's Project Wizard is a fastt and easy approache to creating an installer. The Project Wizard's simple interface provides the power you need to create an installer quickly. And InstallAnywhere shortens development cycles by integrating with popular IDEs and build tools. It can even automate the build process so there's no need to manually recreate installers every night.

Simplifies and Standardizes Software Deployment

InstallAnywhere provides a complete high quality installation toolset to produce full-featured, flexible installers. It's packed with tons of new features to make your complex server software deployment and client-side configurations a breeze. With InstallAnywhere, you concentrate on developing great software, not deploying it.

Unlimited Customization

The InstallAnywhere IDE includes a fully graphical Advanced Designer interface that allows you to create installers without coding; yet its innovative APIs allow unlimited customization options so your installer has precisely the functionality you need. InstallAnywhere's unified look and feel from install to product delivers product branding, not installer branding. InstallAnywhere's componentized, rules-based architecture provides one complete toolset that solves most installation problems. Whether you're creating a simple installer for a client application, or deploying EJBs to multiple server locations across an enterprise, InstallAnywhere is an ideal installation solution.

The Standard in Multi-Platform Deployment

InstallAnywhere's fast, powerful, and intuitive installers are used by many enterprise software companies, including Borland, HP, IBM, Intel, Novell, and Sun Microsystems.

Easy Evaluation Process

InstallAnywhere is available in a full-featured trial version. Simply download and use the six-step Project Wizard or the Advanced Designer to build an installer. Use it to deploy onto multiple platforms.

What’s new in InstallAnywhere 2011?

Enterprise and Standard Edition

Expanded Platform Support - InstallAnywhere 2011 supports the latest and most updated platforms including Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), SUSE Linux 11.3, Ubuntu 9.10, Solaris 11, HP-UX 11i, AIX 7.1, IBM i5/OS, Z/OS, RHEL 6 and Fedora 14.

Enhanced Support for Third-Party Compression Algorithms - InstallAnywhere 2011 allows set up authors to expand 7-Zip (LZMA) and TAR compressed archives on their target system offering the ability to expand these archives in a fast and reliable manner.

Complex Rule Expressions with Multiple Operators - InstallAnywhere 2011 provides the ability to write complex rule expressions (and/or/not) with the application logic. These complex rule expressions help set up authors to better mirror their complex business logic.

Signed Installations - Installers now have the ability to have custom code archives or their dependencies as signed JARS. InstallAnywhere will extract files and make use of Java to verify the signature, ensuring the safety of these custom code JARS.

IDE Enhancements - InstallAnywhere 2011 provides a list of preset variables that can eliminate manual entry and a table that allows quick viewing of all variables in a project. In addition, there is now a variable search and replace function that can be utilized in any of the installation tasks / phases to enable rapid changes.

Enterprise Edition Only

Enhanced Merge Modules Features - InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise provides a single uninstaller that will work with your main project as well as any other merge modules. This new capability reduces potential uninstall errors and saves time for the set up author. A unified progress bar has been developed to show installation progress for all included components.

Extended External Resource Bundle Support - External Resource Bundle support enables the localization of installer strings. Merge modules can now leverage the external resource bundles from the parent as well.

Enhanced Installation Logging - Merge modules now have installation logs in addition to the parent log files. Developers also have the ability to consolidate the parent and merge module log files. All logging related settings have been consolidated into a single log settings task.

Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Enhancements - InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise supports the latest versions of JVM for Sun, IBM, Apple and HP (ver 1.4x, 1.5x and 1.6x), with advanced search enhancements for the developer to put in their installer.

JVM Download at Runtime - InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise provides the option to download a JVM from the Internet in real time if the JVM is not found on the end user machine. This capability not only saves time, but provides a smaller footprint for the installer package.

What’s new in InstallAnywhere 2010?

Maintenance Mode Support - In InstallAnywhere 2010, you can choose to implement Maintenance Mode in an installer, which enables end users to add or remove features to previously installed products as well as repair broken installations.

With a Maintenance-Mode-enabled installer, end users can perform the following maintenance activities:

Add Feature -- Install additional features that were bundled with the product but which were not installed during the initial installation.

Remove Feature -- Remove a feature that had already been installed without uninstalling the entire application.

Repair Installation -- Reinstall a broken or corrupted feature.

Uninstall Product -- Uninstall the entire application.

Maintenance Mode gives your end users the flexibility of managing product features as needed. Maintenance Mode is also available for console mode installations.

Product Instance Management - The new Instance Management feature gives you better control over the number of product instances that are permitted to be installed on an end user's machine. You can restrict the number of permitted instances of your product on the target system to a single instance only or to a specfic number of instances.

Build Configuration Support - The new Build Configuration feature enables you to easily create and manage multiple configurations in the same InstallAnywhere project, with each Build Configuration representing how the installer will be built for particular set of platforms, files, build distributions, JVMs, locales, and other settings. Using Build Configurations enables you to use one project to create multiple installers for the same application, each with a slightly different configuration. You can use Tags to bundle different sets of actions, panels, features, and components with Build Configurations.

Installation Rollback Support - If an end user cancels an installation before it has completed, or if a fatal error occurs during the installation, the result can be an incomplete, corrupt application. To avoid this problem, you can now choose to enable installation rollback by selecting the Enable Rollback option on the Project > Advanced subtask. If you select the Enable Rollback option, and the end user cancels an installation or a fatal error occurs, the installer will automatically revert what has been altered or added to the system.

Uninstall Phase Exposure - InstallAnywhere automatically creates an Uninstaller for each project. The Uninstaller, much like the Installer, is a collection of panels, consoles, and actions. The standard Uninstaller uninstalls the application by executing each action?s uninstallation procedure. However, in some situations, you may want additional flexibility and have more control over how the uninstallation is performed. Therefore, you may want to use the Uninstall task in the Advanced Designer to customize the Uninstaller by adding, removing or changing some of the uninstall actions. For example, you may want to disable the uninstallation of an entire set of resources, rename files, copy and move files, display additional dialog messages, or execute some custom code at uninstall time.
