January 12, 2011
Feature Release

SourceAnywhere Standalone is a SQL-based source control/version control tool designed to be a replacement for Microsoft Visual SourceSafe. SourceAnywhere Standalone stores source control/version control files and history in repositories in Microsoft SQL Server. The SourceAnywhere Standalone Server serves one SQL database and you can create any number of repositories in this database. The SourceAnywhere Standalone client is GUI application that resembles the SourceSafe Explorer user interface. Users can perform most SourceSafe operations in a similar fashion.

Updates in V3.0

  • Support for Multiple SQL Server Databases as Storage
Facilitate an individual repository backup and break through the database storage limitations of SQL Server Express.
  • Email Notification System
Assigned users will receive notification emails when specific events, such as check-out/check-in/Label, are triggered.
  • Pending Checkins Window
Displays all files checked out by the current user. Tracking check-out path (including computer name) is also supported.
  • Shelve/Unshelve Pending Changes
  • Display File Status in the Windows Client Explorer
File status is shown as a column in the explorer pane. Five file statuses are supported: Normal, Missing, Old, Modified, and Unknown.
  • Performance Improvements
Dramatically improved overall performance by introducing ZIP compression technique on network layer.
  • Optimized Refresh Behavior on Project Tree
  • Optimized integration with Visual Studio
  • Cache File Optimization

Users can now only see repositories to which they have access to. Project structure is hidden from users without read rights to its parent folder.
