hi, i have a problem with installer, doesnt work , just install 2 dll but the last one sbcore.dll cant register.

I have windows XP service pack 2
c# 2.0
I try to install in 2 diferent machines and have the same result. error in installation (dbcore.dll).

have any ideas?

First of all please accept my apologies for not posting a reply earlier.

There are several possible reasons for sbcore.dll to fail to register during install.

First of all, in order for our product "Btrieve Classes for .NET" to run and this DLL to register, a copy of Pervasive PSQL v10, Pervasive PSQL v9, Pervasive.SQL V8, or Pervasive.SQL 2000i from Pervasive Software must be installed first.
For server versions, just installing the requester or client part of the software on your remote machine is fine.
If none of these products either as a server, workgroup or client are installed, sbcore.dll will fail to register, and the error you are seeing will result.

Please first can you first check that you have one of these products installed on your machine ?
If not, please go to Pervasive's web site and download and install a trial copy of one of these products.

If you already have a copy of either a server, workgroup or client version of Pervasive PSQL / Pervasive.SQL installed on your machine and you are still seeing this problem, it is likely that you are missing a dll that sbcore.dll requires to register.

If this is the case, to identify which DLL is missing, if you email me at bcnsupport@agtech.co.jp, I can send you a tool that will enable you to find what DLLs sbcore.dll cannot find on your system.

First of all, my apologies for not replying earlier.
To answer your question of "Can Btrieve Classes for .NET read a field of type BLOB of 1MB in size ?",

A BLOB in a Pervasive database is stored in a longvarbinary type field. However, for types like longvarchar and longvarbinary, Btrieve Classes for .NET in the latest 2.0 version only supports record lengths up to length that can be read in a single Btrieve call ( maximum 65,535 bytes ). The current version does not support data with a size that necessitates chunk operations straddling multiple records.

In short, our product cannot read a field of type BLOB of 1MB in size.
The best workaround is probably to store the 1MB BLOB separately on a file server somewhere and then simply store the pointer to this in the Pervasive database. This will also probably be faster.

Yes, the latest version 2.0 of Btrieve Classes for .NET fully supports Pervasive PSQL v9.
