True DBList Pro Vers 7.0 telfers [USA] 17-Oct-2006 21:20:00

We have a licensed version of True DBList Pro Vers 7.0, and we are seeing several problems that appear to be unfixable from the code. Is support for this version dead? What are our upgrade options? ComponentOne doesn't even mention vers 7.0 anymore on their website.
It appears the full blown ComponentOne Studio is the only way to go, but it says for VS 2005 -- we are using old reliable VB 6.0. So, do we have an upgrade option we can get any sort of support on, staying with VB 6.0?
Thanks for any help you can provide...

Hello,

You can still email support with questions on our v7 products, at support@componentone.com, but we are not updating our v7 controls anymore. We still have some past updates available for download here prerelease.componentone.com/activex/C1TrueDBList/Legacy (no www). We still have ActiveX controls, which are currently in version 8, but we no longer offer the ActiveX studio as a separate studio. We include all of our controls in our Studio Enterprise; which has controls for Visual Studio 6, VS2002\2003, and VS2005.

I am not a sales person so I don't know what upgrade pricing options are available, so you should call ComponentSource or see componentone.com for information.

Hello Craig,

Yes, TDBList 8 does support XP Themes. It was added in our T3 2005 release of the product.

I would like to use this for a particular Access project. Is there any reason why this should not work in Microsoft Access 2002 (XP)?

Thanks

Hello,

You can use TreuDBList Pro in Access, but Access does not support ActiveX licensing. ComponentOne controls, or any other licensed controls that use the standard Microsoft ActiveX licensing scheme will nag in Access. You will need a non-standard container license to distribute your app. I am not sure if Component Source can help you out with this type of license or not. If they cannot, see componentone.com to find out how you can contact ComponentOne directly if you are interested in a non-standard container license.

Hello,

Functionally, it would work, but Access does not support component licensing. As a result, your end users will still get a license message, even if you built the project with a licensed version of the control. You can purchase a Non Standard Container License from ComponentOne to make it work properly, but I am not sure if you can get it through ComponentSource. If you are interested, and ComponentSource cannot offer it you can call ComponentOne for more information at 1-800-858-2739.

I have experienced the list and it works really fine, but there is a problem I have, I can not make the list to go to a specific record in it using the find method as I did in the True DB Grid.

Hi Oscar,

Have a look at tutorial 22 in the help files for True DB List Pro. That would give you an in depth knowledge of how to use “Find” method to for record positioning. In case of any questions about this example, please let us know so we can help.
