Data Widgets is a classic product and is old technology, about 12 years old. If the customer wanted a COM Grid they should have purchased NetAdvantage, as it includes UltraGrid, which was the next generation Grid after Data Widgets and with the NetAdvantage you receive three Grids (COM,ASP.Net and Windows Forms), so once you learn the COM Grid the object model is the same for the ASP.NET and Windows Forms Grids and you already have these Grids for when you are ready to move to Microsoft Visual Studio .Net, this applies throughout the NetAdvantage, as it includes over 100 Components.

We have used this product a a few medium size projects and found it to be buggy, unstable and at times unusable.
In bound mode it appears to work (at least in simple situations,)
When in additem mode, using the grid in conjunction with a drop down produces some very strange results, replacing data in other cells (and totally wrecking any attempts at validation)
I would not recommend this product.

I've used Data Widgets since version 1.0 - VB3.
This is a powerful, stable an efficient collection of objects, oriented for small and medium project.
DataGrid and DataCombo are probably the best choice.

Have used DataWidgets since VB4. This is a stable, powerful collection of tools to display data especially good for its datagrid and combo boxes.

This component is very nice and functional, and if it were stable, we would be happy to use it. But we used it in a large project, and were very disappointed: some functions were only in help, some did not work at all. Testing of our project found a lot of situations, where data loss could happen only because of this component.
It works very badly with sort (it leads to data loss), it forgets to raise some declared events. We found situations when data from one cell replaces data in the other cell. In some cases cells were temporarily filled with the data from the others etc.
And support is really poor, because first reaction of the support staff was not to help clients, but to explain that we are mistaken. Only after 3-4 letters they can accept that they were wrong.
