What's New in V2.0

To provide the functionality and intuitive ease of use requested from our customers, the Component Object Model and underlying supporting structures have been completely redesigned. This redesign has allowed DBI to provide .NET developers with substantial functionality improvements, design-time and run-time XML support, as well, Outlook Object Data Model compatibility without the complexity of the whole Outlook Object Model.

This new product contains five (5) new and completely redesigned .NET Windows Forms controls and two supporting assemblies (dll's):

  • dbiCalendar: dbiCalendar is a scrolling “virtual” calendar component that presents enhanced monthly or weekly calendar views with a uniquely interactive interface.
  • dbiDate: dbiDate is a monthly calendar control capable of presenting one to twelve months simultaneously. The control’s compact footprint makes it ideal in situations where screen real-estate is at a premium.
  • dbiDayView: dbiDayView is an advanced appointment scheduling component with the ability to group appointments based on Date, Contact, Location, and/or Task. An ideal choice for appointment scheduling.
  • dbiDropDate: an enhanced date or time edit object with a built-in drop-down calendar. The control includes “intelligent” data-entry features to recognize and auto-complete partial values.
  • dbiMonth: is the perfect UI for presenting monthly activity. Presentation options are extensive supporting the latest graphical styles.
  • dbiPIM: (Collaborative Data Framework dll for DBI's calendar and scheduling components) The dbiPim assembly hosts the definitions for the Appointment, Contact, Day Format, Location, and Task objects. These objects can be used in conjunction with the DBI Calendar Tools controls, or by themselves as structures for any collaboration information application.
  • dbi.dll: (common support dll for all DBI WinForms controls)

Complete on-line help (a dedicated help file for each component) and sample applications with source code in Visual Basic .NET and C# is provided to assist in your use and demonstration of each component.

Calendar Tools 2.0 for .NET provides .NET developers an Outlook-style appointment scheduling and interactive Calendar functionality for .NET Windows Forms.

Calendar Tools 2.0 for .NET is a complete component-solution:

  • Single presentation settings for all components
  • Common data-management architecture for all components,
  • Comprehensive appointment, contact, location and task management,
  • Appointment scheduling,
  • Interactive Calendars,
  • Date input
  • Date selection

DBI introduces:
The Collaborative Data Framework - a common presentation and data management layer for sharing appointment, contact, location and task information. Microsoft offers the concept of “Collaboration Information” through the Outlook data model. Developers can extend Outlook using the Collaboration Information object model.

Calendar Tools 2.0 for .NET provides an intuitive, straight forward component design giving developers a friendly structure to implement Outlook-style functionality. Custom properties, methods and events allow for efficient implementation of essential appointment scheduling and calendar-based functionality. For example:

“dbiDayView1.Appointments[1].BackColor = color.red”

“dbiDate.Buttons.ForeColor = Color.Black”

Calendar Tools 2.0 for .NET also includes a foundational object model for developers to quickly share core data with any object in the Calendar Tools presentation layer. You can extend the Collaborative Data Framework to existing Outlook data and beyond with ease.

DBI’s Collaborative Data Framework also supports the data elements of Outlook’s scheduling Object Model. In a straightforward fashion, developers can intuitively implement great appointment scheduling and calendar/date functionality using existing Outlook data.

Each component found in Calendar Tools 2.0 for .NET supports Design-Time and Run-Time XML import and export functions, making them ideal for consuming and emitting data from any data source. The controls found in this product are not data-bound providing complete developer flexibility and choice of data repository.
