Really good suite. I love the look of their controls, it resembles microsoft's look and feel far more closely than other suites. The suite unfortunately isn't as large as some others (missing a reporting and charting component for example). I've looked at other suites but Janus is the suite I went with. Support is really good. Prompt responses and they know what they're talking about. The product is updated with fixes quite often. You find a bug, they'll usually have it fixed in the next release (in about one or two weeks). I only wish they would add more products to their suite.

Best Tech Support in the business... If you got a problem, or don't understand something, these guys literally answer your question in minutes.. using actual code examples ... with actual programmers providing the support (very smart and creative programmers). Not to mention the controls have cutting edge look and fast. If you find a bug they fix it.. that day or the next build. First class company.. that really saves you when you're stuck, they give true suggestions and above and beyond tech support. You won't be disappointed with them.

I just finished reviewing Janus and some other tool suites. In the end I personally preferred the Janus suite although it is a bit smaller than some of the others. In particular, the two areas that I evaluated the most were the grid components and the toolbar components.

UI Toolbars/Explorer Bars and Styles
I found the UI pieces of Janus including toolbars, visual styles etc. to be a lot simpler to use.
I found the designers felt a lot more comfortable overall and were just very clean.

Grids
Regarding grids, I like the Janus grid designer a lot better than some of the other wizard style setup and designers.
Again, as with the toolbar designers, the Janus designer seems to be very clean. Some other grids have a bulky wizard style setup which as a coder I am just not a big fan of and found it a little overwhelming when learning the control. Other grids may be very good but you just seem to scroll through what seems like thousands of properties trying to find something you need.

Thirdly, upon installation, Janus did not seem to pollute my toolbox with about 300 tools that I will never use. It provided me with all of the tools that I need and a few extra and I liked the cleanliness of it a lot better.

The one downside that I can say about Janus is that their help manual is very very bad. However, if you post a question in the forums on their site it will be answered immediately and I also highly recommend going through the tutorials which are included in the Janus installation folder. You can learn a lot from them.

So thats my pick.

Interfaccia elengate - Poche riche di codice a disposizione, impossibile capire il processo di creazione - Scarsa l'implementazione delle funzioni in quanto gli esempi presentano solo Wizard, ovvero automazioni per generare il codice in automatico. guida in linea poco intuitiva.

[Translation - Elegant User Interface however there is little sample code, impossible to understand how to use the product. Little examples of how to use the functions of the product as the samples seem to refer to the Wizard or how to automatcally generate code. Online help is not very intuitive.]

I agree with Carl: the product is great, uncomparable with the others that i have used. The documentation may be better, but the examples given (with source code) and the excellent (really excellent!) newsgroup support makes me happy to have choosen these components one year ago and now i'm going to buy the version 2.

Easilly the BEST component suite out there! Forget about Infragistics (still pretty good) or ComponentOne (yuk! buggy!), the Janus suite for .NET is the one to get. GridEX is by far the best grid I have used and the schedule component is great. Version 2.0 also has some great enhancements over 1.0. The documentation is not as good as Infragistics' but their support tech is excellent to compensate. I hope they improve the docs and setup a knowledge base on their website for 2.0.

Janus is definately on top! 5 stars.

I've been using this product for over a year. To my experience, it has been completely stable, and the feature set is rich. It has certainly been a sound investment for us, paying back with some really quite cool features - the gridEX is an excellent help in editing, viewing and aggregating data. Above all, the support is fantastic - this is a compelling reason in itself to buy this product.

I have been using all of the controls in this package since the beta stage.
They not only have an impressive set of features and functionality, but they are incredibly stable.
When VS.Net was initially released we evaluated all of the competitive products in the market and this product was, by far, the best of all we tested.
Overall I find them the best value by far of any similar products on the market. Having been in the add-on market for several years myself, I have found these controls to be of the highest quality of any I have seen.

Support is only through email - however this has never been an issue. Questions are always answered promptly (almost always within 24hrs and many times less - including some weekends) and the support staff is not some underpaid techie, but normally one of the owners/developers.

There is only one area they need improvement - Documentation (and this can probably be said of all complex add-ons).
They use DocumentX to create the HTML Help 2 files and they have numerous examples / samples, however these controls have so many properties, methods and events (hundreds all total), that sometimes you can get a bit 'lost'. However, once you get a handle on the basic structure and implementation the conventions are consistent throughout and work well.

You cannot go wrong with this product.

Let me put it quite simple. The best Grid/Scheduling/Editors around for .Net. The intuitive design of the components and the ease of use are far better than any of the competition. And I've tested them all! Especially the end-user will love the ease of entering dates, times, numbers, ... They follow the globalization perfectly, and here in Belgium that can't be said of every component around.

Having compared the Janus Schedule component with it's competitors, it looks like the one we will choose.

It's a shame that the installer for the demo was unreliable. I had to copy it onto a CD to install it. Good controls spoilt by strange installer.

These controls are, by far, the best .Net controls available right now. I have used several other controls and the Janus controls simply make me and my work look really good. They are intuitive, robust and slick. I was very productive in just a couple of days, and it took that long because I had to remove from my app the controls from the previous suite I was using.

They have the most straight forward, no-nonsense support I've ever encountered. They're good!

I strongly recommend this product to anyone doing any kind of .Net development.

Evaluating these controls just now and can only sum them up by saying they are the best third party controls that I have ever used. I am usually a bit phobic about using grids, my phobia is no more. With the architecture in .Net changing so that you can bind the grid to a dataset, not binding directly to a database, makes life much easier. The button bar control and the schedule controls are excellent. This will be my first purchase of a third party control and it will be money well spent.

An absolute winner! Well thought out, expertly developed, it's a top notch product that is simply a joy to use! Finally the complete package for developing modern UI's! The grid is the best I've seen, performance, features, capability. The Explorer Bar is accurate and just as impressive! The Schedule and Timeline are incredibly powerful and I can just see great apps to come from this capability! Lastly, the button bar, and easy to use, styles from Win9x through XP and even the VS.NET IDE is emulated. It's sweet! I highly recommend this package, this is the one stop do all, you've found it here! Great job Janus! A true winner, just like your GridEx 2000 product!
