LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite ("LEAD SDK") requires runtime licensing based on your use/deployment of the end user application you develop using the LEAD SDK ("Application Software"). LEAD offers a variety of licensing models designed to allow their customers the flexibility to make their document software endeavors as successful as possible. If none of LEAD's licensing models satisfy your requirements, please contact us and we will work with you and LEAD Technologies to develop a licensing program that will fit into your business model.

The basic licensing model for LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite SDK requires that a runtime license be purchased for each "Deployment" of the Application Software developed with the LEAD SDK. A "Deployment" of Application Software includes: (i) each copy of the Application Software installed by customer for internal use and (ii) each copy of the Application Software distributed to third parties by customer and its resellers/distributors. If the Application Software is installed on a network or server by customer or any of customer's licensees, a runtime license is required for each computer that is connected to the network or server having access to the Application Software. One (1) runtime license is included with the initial purchase of the LEAD SDK. Additional runtime licenses can be purchased in a number of ways; client, concurrent and server.

With the LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite, developers get ScanSoft SDK 5.0 Proenabled Optical Character Recognition capabilities added to all of the features that make LEADTOOLS Document Imaging great. Features include preset confidence and accuracy levels, artificial intelligence, and built-in and user-defined lexicons for increasing the type of text to recognize within a particular zone. LEADTOOLS provides the ability to verify or correct text during the recognition process by using the built in verifcation dialog. LEAD's OCR verification dialog ties the text being edited directly to the image, providing a visual reference to the original bitmap data. The OCR engine can perform Automatic area segmentation creating multi-layered zones, recognizing areas such as tables, rules, images and text. Or, you can manually designate up to 2500 such zones. The OCR engine additionally supports the processing of documents with text and images, that can provide the basis of a compound document processing system. .

Different fonts, sizes (5 to 72 point) and styles are also supported. Fax, dot matrix and halftones can be preprocessed to improve recognition results. The OCR Engine supports major European and Scandinavian languages (Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish) as well as English. Support for dialects such as US. English, French Canadian, Latin American Spanish, Swiss German, and Brazilian Portuguese is also provided. Mixed lanuage documents are also supported. Recognized text can be exported to more than 40 different formats, including MS Word, MS Excel, Dbase, WordPerfect and ScanSoft defined mark-up language format (XDoc/XDoc Lite). You get superior OCR processing speeds, for use in form recognition and processing applications. LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite adds to the OCR features with powerful annotation capabilities, optimized document image processing filters, and high performance decompression and viewing of JPEG, LEAD CMP and CCITT G4 image files.

Additionally, JBIG file format support is included in the Document Imaging Suite. JBIG defines a method for lossless compression encoding of a bi-level image (that is, an image that, like a black-and-white image, has only two colors). This method can also be used for coding grayscale and color images.

LEADTOOLS image processing enhancements include features such as unsharp mask, red eye removal, lossless transforms on JPEG and CMP, the ability to resize bitmaps during the load process, support for anti-aliasing, support for JPEG-LAB and TIFF-LAB, and much more. Expanded TWAIN Support includes performance of Memory Buffered Transfer using JPEG, RLE4, RLE8, PACKBITS, GROUP3 1D, GROUP3 1D EOL, GROUP3 2D, and GROUP 4, as well as the save of the Memory Buffered Transfer data to a file, with the buffers saved to it as they came from the source. New image format support in version thirteen includes IBM AFP, Wireless Bitmap (WBMP), Intergraph CIT, SMP, and many others.

Included programming interfaces: A low level API, C++ Class Library and .NET components. LEADTOOLS Medical Imaging products ship with sample Source code for C/C++, Visual C++ (MFC), C# and VB.NET.

LEAD TWAIN

Use the default user interface included with the TWAIN driver.

Create your own user interface to the driver interface.

Bypass the interface entirely for completely automated tasks or batch scanning.

Control the type of image which is acquired (black & white, b/w with halftone, grayscale, color - as supported by the device).

Control the resolution (dpi), position , size, and orientation of the image to be acquired.

Use the Automated Document Feeder for single and multi-page scans, including support for duplex scanning.

Use supplied events and callbacks to code your own special per-page processing

Use selection dialogs to allow selection of TWAIN source, or select among multiple TWAIN sources in code.

Use of native, buffered memory or file transfer modes when acquiring from a TWAIN device.

Flexibility to get and set all TWAIN v1.9 capabilities that the device's TWAIN driver supports.

Save of the device's TWAIN capability settings to a template file, helping to save multiple settings of sources and load them as needed.

Buffered memory transfer mode includes compression support. The scan data is compressed using JPEG, RLE, BITFIELDS, GROUP 3, GROUP 4 or PACKBITS to reduce the data transfer bottle neck.

Perform the save of the Memory Buffered Transfer data directly to a file.

Get the Extended Image Info that some TWAIN scanner drivers support. For example, if the scanner driver supports reading barcodes or patch codes, then that information could be retrieved via LEADTOOLS TWAIN support
