Optical Mark Recognition for Scanned Documents. LEADTOOLS OMR module is used for recognizing optical marks (checkmarks). Typical applications include the processing of questionnaires, ballots, educational tests and reporting, and ordering sheets, where the documents to be processed are form-like and filled in by hand by respondents. Requires either LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite or the LEADTOOLS OCR Module.

What's New in V15.0

• 64 Bit Support - In addition to Win32 support, LEADTOOLS Raster, Document, Medical and Vector toolkits now provide support for developing applications to target Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit.  The toolkit includes 32 and 64-bit API, C++ Class Library and .NET Class Library interfaces
• Dramatically Improved Performance - Increased speed of the LEADTOOLS engines including encoders/decoders (CCITT G3, CCITT G4, JBIG, ABC, JPEG, etc) and many of the image processing functions

The OMR features are included as an add-on module to extend the functionality of the LEADTOOLS Document Imaging Suite and the LEADTOOLS OCR Module by providing properties, methods, and events for easily incorporating the ScanSoft SDK 12 Pro engine into your applications.

The frame for the mark can be a rectangle, a hexagon, a circle, or an ellipse and can be filled in by any method (x, tick, hatching, horizontal or vertical lines, etc.). The frame may be visible or invisible (scanner dropout) in the image sent for recognition.

OMR Benchmarks

Recognition accuracy is 99.95% and the average recognition time is 0.005 seconds per checkbox zone (measured on a computer with 166 MHz Pentium Processor / 16 MB RAM).
