LightSpeed is without doubt the best vendor component I have used. It's extremely quick to get a working ORM model up and running but it has an incredible amount of flexibility and extensibility - I've used it on several different client projects now, each time with quite a different model structure and it has worked no problems each time. The quality of this ORM is right up there with any other that I have used but for simple use cases it's a lot easier to configure and get up and running than some other ORMs.
The sample solutions are pretty good - especially good to have a whole app dedicated to showing/running the various LightSpeed linq queries/formats, but in general the documentation (especially the API) is as good as you could possibly hope for.
The team at Mindscape are unbelievably responsive. Bug reports and questions on the forum are typically answered by an actual (yes, a real) developer on the LightSpeed team within minutes (we happen to be in the same timezone as Mindscape) or a couple of hours. We have pushed the envelope a bit - and I've asked for quite a few feature additions. And several times a feature or bug fix that I've needed has been actioned and pushed into the next nightly build - so the turnaround time is quicker than any other commercial or opensource component I've used.
Amazing product backed up by an extremely responsive dev team - can't say enough good about it. :)
