When our team started exploring the AJAX technologies and decided to implement it in one of our new sites in development. We reviewed several commercial products including the Telerik RADControls for ASP.NET. After reviewing this product, we settled on using Telerik’s suite and purchased it.

One of the reasons we selected Telerik was because of how easy it was to use their controls as they closely matched the standard controls offered by Microsoft. In addition to being 100% compliant with the Microsoft AJAX library.

We have also been very pleased with the support we receive and Telerik’s continued effort to enhance and release new updates to their suite.

I have personally recommend their suite to several of my fellow colleagues who are looking for an easy to use, yet powerful, AJAX enabled suite.

I've been using Telerik's controls now for over a year and am very pleased. I initially started using them when Prometheus was in beta. One thing I really appreciate is that Telerik follows the standards put forth by Microsoft. In this case, they use the 100% standard ajax library from Microsoft right down to Microsoft's ScriptManager tag. I have been using Telerik controls for a year or more for ASP.NET development. They get better and better with each release, especially their extensive support for AJAX. All the controls provide state of the art functionality and easy to configure properties. Documentation is excellent and provides in-depth information about each control. One can easily add a professional look n feel in the application by following few simple steps. The skins for all the controls are great especially for r.a.d Window and Grid. With the release of Q2 2007 and 'Prometheus' telerik has put itself one step ahead of other control providers. Telerik support is an other thing worth mentioning. The Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET are the finest set of components I have ever used. My first experience with the controls was in 2005, when I was learning ASP.NET and Oracle for a year-long, complex application. The controls were not only intuitive but also had great documentation and support. If I had a question, I knew help was just a few clicks away. And with such a massive project, it was good to know this was one thing working in my favor.

I've used the controls on various other projects since. Each time, the end users are amazed at how powerful the controls are and how well they look. To me, it's not a surprise! The first time I saw the Telerik controls, their form and function blew me away. I built a university directory search with the controls, including the unbelievably easy AJAX manager, which made it a snap to AJAX-enable numerous controls in the application. The AJAX manager comes with a beautiful Visual Studio dialog box; you simply check a few boxes indicating what controls should be updated, and that's it -- no code involved!

I think the reasons the company succeeds so well are the following: 1) Its focus has always been on customer satisfaction. Their support is second to none. They even provide help on the holidays! 2) They're always engaged in innovation. Each and every product they're selling is the best-of-breed. Nobody can touch them on features or ease-of-use. 3) They never forget that form and function should go together -- hand in hand. So aesthetics never takes a back seat to functionality. Their controls are absolutely gorgeous and have every feature under the sun. And if there's a feature you'd like and you don't see, just suggest it to them. They highly value their customers' feedback. 4) Their controls support the latest Web standards (XHTML, ADA-compliance, etc.). These folks have all the bases covered. 5) Their controls are secure. They know what they're doing so they won't leave you vulnerable.

I'm a very happy customer and will recommend their controls to anyone building ASP.NET or Windows .NET applications. You will be amazed at what their controls can do and how well they care for their customers. I was so happy with their controls, that after I left the university I worked at, I made sure that they upgraded their version of Telerik RadControls. I emailed them numerous times and even contacted Telerik sales to ensure my old colleagues wouldn't miss out on this fantastic product.

I first downloaded the trial for the telerik web controls when I was trying to troubleshoot my solpart menu not expanding over a windowed Flash control in Dotnetnuke. I changed out my solpart menu and replaced it with a radMenu. From that point on, I was hooked. Not only did the radMenu expand over the flash control, it was more lightweight and responsive. There was no pause on page load or on mouseover like there was with the solpart menu. It also was much easier to style using the skins built into the rad control suite. The result was a much more professional looking and functional menu system.

As I started to browse through the other controls in the suite, I was equally impressed. The radGrid is what the gridview control should have been written like. It supports multiple tables, master-detail, in place form editing, and much more. Furthermore, the namespaces and syntax are similar to the Microsoft controls, so they are very easy to learn. The documentation is very helpful and provides plenty of examples for a large number of usage scenarios.

The controls make AJAX almost too easy to implement. They are easy to install and it seems like telerik updates them frequently. Being the single developer at my organization, it is hard to be proficient in all aspects of application design... user interface, data access, business logic, etc. The R.A.D. controls give me an easy way to quickly develop a very professional looking and functional user interface so I can focus on other aspects of the project.

After hours of researching web controls for my project I would defiantly say these controls are the best on the market.
They are easy to use (some require zero code), easy to customise, fast, and look really professional.
The help guide is thorough and the support is exceptional with a very active forum where the control developers actually answer your queries not just support guys. They also have a support ticketing system which is very efficient.

I've mostly been using r.a.d. ajax stuff so far and I have to tell you that I really like it. It is so easy to ajaxify stuff which is how it should be. A few clicks here and there, a line or two of code and there you go. Yet, if you want to tweak it to the extreme, you can. Again, easily.
Documentaton is good, support does a great job and the community is there. Plus, telerik is constantly improving and evolving their components.

Simply the best asp.net controls suite out there. The programming model of the controls is very similar to Microsofts and so makes it very easy to work with. You can add great functionality to your websites with a minimum of effort. The controls just work. The deployment of the controls is just as easy on a hosted environment as is on a server where you have full access. Not all controls suite can be deployed easily, especially on a hosted environment.

The controls can be easily integrated with automatically generated ASP.NET applications. e.g. applications generated with Ironspeed designer, Deklarit etc.

Excellent documentation with excellent examples.

I have so far had no reason to ask anything from technical support but I bet it will be first class.

You cannot go wrong purchasing this controls suite. And if you have a subscription license you will soon be getting the Windows controls and the report controls. You can't ask for more.

Although we’ve only used a handful of the controls to date (editor, spell checker, menu, treeview, calendar) they’ve undoubtedly saved us several months of valuable effort and, importantly, allowed our developers to concentrate on implementing core product features rather than developing low-level control functionality.

The other key benefit we’ve derived from using Telerik’s suite has been to give our products a really up-to-date user interface. We’d always wanted to implement features like drag-and-drop and right-click context menus, but had been put off previously by the sheer effort – and developer skills needed – to create this functionality ourselves within a browser environment. With the rediscovery and rejuvenation of AJAX there has been a wealth of developers and companies alike writing the next level in AJAX Programming and I could give you a long list of all the different off the shelf products I have tried, but none has come close to the flexibility and ease of use of any of the Telerik Controls.

Sure, in my humble opinion there have been some close offerings from other companies, and some even for free, like Microsoft Atlas Controls Beta. However, before I made my decision to purchase the Telerik Controls suite, I took a good look at the competition and to be honest, any of the Telerik Controls, compared side by side to its comparable competitors shows without a doubt Teleriks' maturity and grasp of real world usage applications which are highly configurable and flexible, including the all important skinning and language locales.

Previously, where slightly lacking, Telerik has pulled up their socks and now their documentation for each of their controls are more comprehensive and concise; coding examples of each of their controls broken down to their elements helps speed up the learning curve of using these 'drag & drop' AJAXified controls.

Another good point to make is the amount of data transfer required on AJAX callbacks, and after thorough research, I have concluded, (hence my purchase of a subscription license) is that for the features that you get with any of the Telerik Controls, it gives you the best lightweight, least code, data transfer, ensuring that your web application is reliably responsive to the end user on all major browsers. Which is good, because you never know what browser a user is going to be using, a nightmare for all web developers.

I have personally used in a few recent projects from Telerik, RadCallBack, RadEditor, RadSpell, RadRotator, RadUpload, RadProgressUploadBar and RadWindow. All these controls for me integrated very well with each other and as I am developing web applications for the Spanish market, I was very pleased to see that I could change the locales of these controls very easily. For example, the RadEditor, a web based Rich Text Editor (WYSISYG), all the toolbar buttons were completely configurable, allowing me not only to change the display image but also to change 'alt text' to whatever I wanted it to be and stored very nicely in a XML file that I can reuse in another project. Also, SpellCheck, wow, out of the box with 3 European Languages, English, French and German but what is supported is virtually any language under the sun as long you have your dictionary file and of course, you can also create your own custom dictionary file too.

Let me now talk about technical support. Telerik has a very good strategy having a users forum, searchable and separated by each of their controls. This is great as Telerik has a great community of developers who are always willing to help and lets not forget the Telerik Technical Developers themselves who always seems to have an answer for your questions. So if you ever get stuck in the middle of the night and can't find your answer in the documentation, I'm sure you'll find your answer in the forums. They also have a knowledge base section too!

If not, you can always open up a FREE private help ticket with the Telerik Development Team and get a very timely response.

As I said at the beginning of my review, I have tried many controls from many different companies, however my biggest and boldest statement would be if you don't want headaches of going through a huge learning curve and require Rapid Application Development that actually works, then give Telerik Controls a try, all those major blue chip companies using Telerik Controls can't be wrong!

You get a fantastic set of standard control replacements plus one of the best ajax frameworks I have seen.
telerik developed their one ajax framework. It´s more than fantastic. Just put a RadAJAX Panel around any asp control and have fun with ajax.

We completely changed the style of the controls without any problem. If you want you can download some PSD files to get a starting point to create your own style.

Very important remark: telerik´s support team responses are really very fast! You get a response in a maximum 24 hours, most of time 12 hours - as a trial customer!

So if you want to get a professional control suite that fits your needs, just give it a try. You will see: Go Fast - Go telerik!

The r.a.d. Controls Suite is the first set of tools I pick up every time I start a new job. I have used just about every one of the controls extensively, and am consistantly impressed with the quality of the controls, especially in comparison to other offerings available. I started out using the r.a.d. Editor when I was in need of a WYSIWYG editor, and was hooked from then on. The components are well-documented, and tech-support is very responsive and helpful. I cannot recommend this product enough, and do so regularly to any developer I know looking for any of the tools that telerik provides. I would give this thing 6 stars if I could.

Each control is very well documented with screenshots and code examples. even some tips for problems that may arise when using some controls in conjunction with the MS atlas framework.
Also very useful, is that each time a particular class/property/method is selected from the autocomplete dropdown in visual studio, a tooltip with the comment for the class/property/method is displayed. this saves having to look up the manual for further info. very handy.

Just a few thoughts on some controls we liked in particular:

The editor control is very customisable, easy to set-up and get going. Excellent.
Has handy features such as "insert symbol" that allows users to insert copyright, maths and other symbols without having to know html code for them. Easy to change toolbar layout, and functionality without recompiling (simply by modifing the ToolsFile.xml)

The callback controls are extensive and even have design time support in the form of a popup dialog that lets you pick and choose which controls on the current page you want updated via callback from the current control (eg. if you have added a callback textbox and you want to update
a label that displays validation results, you just add that link in the design-time dialog and it will get updated). Very easy to use.

The calendar control has everything - you can select dates by rows or columns, add your own header/footer images, change the complete look of it or how it works, you can even add public holidays by using a simple collection editor property of the control.

We have had a look at competitors products and none are so easy to use or so well-documented. Not to mention the footprint of each control is minimal. We are currently developing an online business site and these controls have already saved us so much time that it is hard to believe. Thanks telerik for making such a great product!

It's hard to get excited about a product or a company nowadays. It's also next to impossible to say nothing but great things about both a company and it's products.

After having dealt with Telerik for over a year and worked with its products, it's easy to say Telerik's suite are the BEST ASP.NET Controls, bar none. The company, from sales to support, serve to back up their great products.

We purchased a few other control suites and we had the typical developer experience. Poorly designed controls, extremely useless support, and bugs galore. After the bad experience there, we were hesitant to spend more money on other companies for fear of the same situation. As our experience with others went downhill, we decided to talk to the Telerik's sales team. We were impressed at the beginning as they offered us a competitior's upgrade discount. The reviews from other users were always positive, so we decided to take the leap and make the purchase.

The difference between Telerik and every other company's ASP.NET offering is astounding. Their products come with EXTREMELY detailed help files & samples (in both C# and VB.NET), themes, and more. Everything's ready to use out of the box. Then there's the additional power of being able to customize everything to suit whatever look/style you are going for. Their support team is amazing, and by far are the best we've ever worked with. They're extremely responsive and they go out of their way to make sure your questions and problems are resolved. We replaced all the other asp.net components that we were using with Telerik's because they are really that damn good.

None of this even takes into account the other extras they offer. They have a reward system for things such as simply requesting new features which lead to discounts on renewals and purchases from them. It's amazing to know that a company really values your feedback.

If you need quality ASP.NET controls that are easy to use, feature filled, and come with the support of one of the best development companies out there, look no further than Telerik's suites. You will not regret it.

Before we stumbled upon Telerik's control suite, our company had already purchased two other suites from the competition for differing uses. The original reason we purchased Telerik's controls is because we needed a very robust editor control, and the r.a.d. editor fulfilled all of our requirements. However, as we began looking through their entire suite, we determined that we could replace the other third party controls we were using with the various r.a.d. controls.

By doing this we have seen improvements in performance and in the functionality offered. We have not converted 100% of our third party controls to r.a.d. controls yet, but that is our goal in the coming months.

Plainly said: If you get the r.a.d. controls suite, you will NOT regret it. They are truly a joy to work with and help us develop a more attractive site that much faster. You will not need anything else to produce an elegant and professional-looking web application.

We were looking for a reliable AJAX combobox with good support and good functionality. We did a LOT of research and eventually downloaded another vendors tools. After 2 days of struggling and waiting for response to support queries, we decided to try Telerik.

We were up and running in less than 1 hour! And we use DotNetNuke (DNN) - so we expected problems - which did not happen. The stuff simply worked!

When we contacted Telerik support the response was rapid and intelligent. The support person made an effort to understand our query and did not simply autorespond with some meaningless words.

Having been buying and using software components for the past 15 years, I can say from experience that the Telerik quality of work and support committment is among the best available on the planet.

I have developed quite a few complex web custom controls by myself. They can be such a time and life savers, but … they have to be done right. There are a lot of pitfalls to fall into when not conforming to best practices of dealing with stateless web model. I evaluated controls from the major vendors and definitely chose the r.a.d.controls suite from Telerik. They provide a very rich set of controls that are easy to use and look fantastic. The documentation is good and they provide a good set of examples to get you going. They were one of the first, if not the first, to have an upgrade to their controls supporting Visual Studio 2005 after it's release showing they are on top of development efforts at Microsoft and are interested in getting new versions to developers as soon as possible. Telerik also keeps up with web development trends as evidenced by their release of the r.a.d.callback control with support for the rapidly rising AJAX web development paradigm. Support for Telerik products is outstanding. They have a fairly active set of forums for their products. Developers can also submit trouble tickets. Response time for persons who just purchased the suite without the subscription is a guaranteed 72 hours. If you purchsed the subscription version, that time is 24 hours. It is an excellent value as Telerik updates their controls quite often. lastly, what made me choose them at work over all the other vendors was their outstanding support during my evaluation. As I was evaluating their use with SharePoint Portal Server and needed a version to evalaute that allowed a named server rather than just localhost, within a few days of asking about this, Telerik provided an evaluation package that allowed named servers. You will not find a better value for your component dollar than Telerik!

I made a mistake, it's very surprising how easy and simple is to implement the controls of this company. During this use I encontered some difficult for expert use and I ask for an assistance, the support team of Telerik was very expert ready and patient with me and they made everything to resolve my problem. At least if you use this component suite forget any problem that stressing you in the internet development (such as cross browser development) and you will be ready to think about your site and development purpose not how to reach it!!!

If you are in the business of building web-sites, you need a good WYSIWYG HTML editor – it’s as simple as that. Now, I don’t know about you, but I just don’t have the time (or energy) to build one from scratch, therefore, I decided to invest in a pre-built solution.

Have you ever tried looking for an HTML editor on the Internet? You only have to turn to the mighty Google to be swamped by literally hundreds of competing products in all shapes and forms. How do you know which one is the best? How do you know if the company is legitimate? How do you know if you are getting bang for your buck? Only time will tell, but I think I got lucky…

I stumbled across the neatly designed telerik web-site and after reading up about their r.a.d.editor, I decided to give it a whirl – keeping my thumbs crossed as I downloaded the free trial version. Well, after a few installation hiccups – it was my fault, I confess – a glimmer of hope appeared on the horizon. Where there was once darkness, now there is light.

I can honestly say that of all the editors that I have looked at over the years, the r.a.d.editor wins hands down. It is everything I could have hoped for, and more. The attention to detail is impressive and the features – oh baby, the features – are out of the top draw.

Can it upload and manage images or documents effectively? No problem. How about inserting tables? Like it was a stroll in the park. Do you have to be a rocket scientist in order to customise it? Forget about it. Over and above the standard text formatting features, the r.a.d.editor also ships with a spell checker, flash/media manager, CSS class facility, find/replace tool – the list goes on.

Before you think that I am writing from the corners of a telerik cubicle, there are some aspects that could be tweaked. Being an individual who is fairly challenged in the concentration department, I would like to see a few improvements made to the supporting documentation. The undo/redo functionality needs a little more affection and the anchor link manager could be enhanced a tad. The loading times can be slightly unhurried on occasion, but it is a small price to pay for capabilities that will make your head spin.

Interestingly, while I was testing the r.a.d.editor, I sent in a few queries to their support desk just to see if there was anyone out there. And you know what? I actually got a decent response. Well now, in my part of the world I’m not used to getting this type of service. It’s an inspiration, I tell you!

All in all, telerik’s r.a.d.editor packs a whole lot of punch and puts back the sparkle in a wired world swamped by the mediocre. If you are looking for an HTML editor and you don’t know which one to choose, give the r.a.d.editor a try – you may never look back (well, not until they release an upgrade anyway).

In looking for an ASP.Net text editor, I tested many competitors' products. A couple were good, some were passable, but none had everything I needed until I found telerik's r.a.d.editor. I was able to download it and test it for free on my machine, so I could get a feel for what I was looking to buy without having to put forth any money at the start. I dropped it into VS.Net and found it simple to use, easy to customize and attractive.

The toolbar buttons can be added, subtracted and reordered through an xml file. Data can be shuffled in and out of a database or alternately saved into the page itself. Text can be saved either as text or as html, and words can be pasted in from Word and stripped of their formatting. The editor can be set as editable or not editable programmatically, so it can depend on the user logname if needed. It also comes with a spellchecker that has a button in the editor and customizable dictionaries (I created one per user as well as one general dictionary and it can draw from both).

It probably sounds like I'm a company rep -- it's just because I've now been working with r.a.d.editor (in different versions) for a year and continue to be happy with it. If you're looking for a VS.Net text editor and spellchecker, go ahead and do your research like I did. But start with r.a.d.editor because your search may end right there.

I have had this product in use now for 3 month and I am very satisfied with it.
Provided examples are well described and also beginners with a basic konwledge of web programming should be able to use these controls quite quickly.
In the rare case of a support request, the telerik team was very quick and friendly with a reply, they generally solved the problem with the first answer.
To install the packaged better use the w2k server with IIS 5.0+. I use these components inside Visual Studio.Net and integration was a snap.
