Hi, I have decided to use Telerik because of the excellent design and capabilities of the controls.
However, so often I ran into issues with the controls which magically disappear even though they are still in the designer code but cannot be shown in the designer.
They will also not show in the compiled program anymore and this is overall which really annoys me.

Even though the graphics looks really nice I consider using another company since those problems is visible in the Telerik Forum since 2007 and it is still a buggy situation and I feel like a beta tester.

Their support is great, the design is excellent, but it is too frustrating to always redesign a form/RibbonBand and losing the controls over and over again.

I've been using Telerik Rad Controls for Windows for over 9 months now and my feelings are mitigated.

On one side, the controls look very good, they purvey a feeling of modern, cutting edge, even cool atmosphere to your application. This in itself is probably worth using them. However...

The controls are bug-ridden. They will mess with Visual Studio's Form Designer at every turn. Any application with a complexity level above "Click here to get a Hello World!" will net you some serious headaches and frustrations while trying to work around bugs, IDE crashes or unwanted behaviors. Telerik prides itself in releasing new versions every quarter, but what you should know is that updating versions is in itself a real odyssey. Bugs are introduced with each new version as fast as old bugs are fixed. What's much worse however, is that the default behaviors of controls often change from one version to another. This means that your application will look radically different after each update, and it's your job to go in there and fix it.

Back on the plus side, Telerik's support is on par with their promises. I have received answers to my bug requests within 24 hours, and about three times out of four, the response was helpful in finding an acceptable solution, or a valid workaround until the next update.

In the end, I can only praise the graphic design of Telerik RadControls, but I post a big warning to any potential buyer: you should definitely budget at least 20% of your development time to fixing the never ending onslaught of problems that Telerik will cause to your project.
