Use TeleTools to rapidly prototype, build, and deploy telephony applications. What's new in V3.7?

The essence of the new features center around TeleTools 3.7 vastly enhanced play / record capabilities.

• Play and Record to memory buffers as well as to disk
• Fast forward, rewind or pause recording or playback
• Seek any position in a wav file by time, index, even percentage
• Trim before or after position and allow splitting or joining wave files
• Save embedded information and text inside wav files
• These new features give benefits such as dramatically improved single and multi-line performance for wave intensive applications, better voice mail or prompt editing capabilities, and a much more organized approach to managing wave files.

Memory Buffers

Large and even small multi-line systems can get bogged down accessing wave data from the disk. Some telephony tools solve this problem by using indexed audio files, often referred to as VOX. The TeleTools approach of using memory buffers is far more flexible. TeleTools v3.7 allows multiple line devices to share audio data, thereby reducing the number of open files and virtually eliminating disk access delays, all while using standard wave file formats supported by many other telephony and non-telephony applications.

Why is this good? Imagine an Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) supporting 48+ lines simultaneously and, on every inbound call, a greeting wave file is played. Prior to TeleTools v3.7 every new call required the application to locate the disk file, open it and read the data from the disk. Now with TeleTools v3.7, you can use shared memory buffers and the file is read once then stored in memory. Each of the 48+ lines accesses the same data, greatly limiting the potential for disk access errors and delays.

With TeleTools v3.7 wave data storage is flexible with memory buffers. No longer is your application limited to only storing wave files to disk. Now wave data may be stored in a database, as resource items within executables or, as standard wave files for use with other applications that support wave files.

Fast-forward, Rewind and Pause

Voice mail systems and voice-prompt management require the ability to fast forward and rewind as well as pause while recording or playing wave files. With TeleTools v3.7, developing call recording, IVR's, and transcription systems are even easier

Seek and Search through WAV Files

TeleTools v3.7 now allows for flexible positioning of audio play- you can use seconds, bytes, index and, even percentages! Applications such as medical transcription, dictation, and voice messaging just to name a few just got a whole lot easier to create in v3.7.

Trim Before or Trim After

With the new trim before and trim after properties, TeleTools v3.7 lets you cut, crop, split or join wav files together. You can more easily write apps that merge audio files and allow users to edit recordings and messages.

Embedded Information

Many telephony applications utilize a large number of audio files. Imagine an audio prompt management module that stores the text within the wave file or, a dictation system where the translated text is added directly to the wave file. Coding, audit trails and disaster recovery are now made easy with TeleTools v3.7. Few wave audio tools take advantage of the List capabilities that Microsoft designed into the wave audio file API. With TeleTools v3.7 you can add textual information to any, and all, wave files. Wave file management is made easy with fields like Author, Category, Comments, Copyright, CreationDate, Keywords, Subject and Name.

Other Issues:

The properties etPlay.Timer.Enabled and etPlay.Volume.Enabled properties would interfere with the etPlay.Enabled property. If either of these properties where set to false then the etPlay.Enabled property would also be set to false causing a number of problems including the etPlay.Device.Count property to have a value of zero.

Both attended (desktop) and unattended (server) applications will benefit from the many new features.

The essence of most of the new features in TeleTools 3.6 center around it's new ability to handle multiple calls per line. This enables benefits such as supervised transfer, call waiting, call forwarding, and conferencing.

GatherDigits functionality has been added to allow for easy collection of multi-digit DTMF responses for requirements such as entry of account numbers, monetary values, etc.

New Call Parameters properties have been added, including NoAnswerTimeout which makes handling no answers on out-bound calls much easier.

Extensive call control capabilities, including handling multiple simultaneous calls and access to many advanced PBX-type features makes development of advanced desktop soft-phone type applications much easier.

Unattended or hybrid applications including multi-party conferencing, IVRs, follow-me systems and more also benefit from the new multi-call capabilities as well as the new Gather Digits and Call Parameter functionality.

To support this greatly expanded feature set, over 100 new properties, events, and methods have been added in this release alone. The etLine TeleScope has also been enhanced to support this additional functionality and redesigned to make common tasks even easier to perform. Naturally the help file and sample programs have been extensively updated to reflect these enhancements as well.

Please note that availability of some of these features is dependent upon the TAPI support of the underlying telephony hardware or system.
