In support of this mission, the company conducts fundamental research in the areas of formal semantics, programming languages, complexity theory, and cryptography, as well as maintains the Xenocode virtual machine, recompilation and semantic analysis engines on which its commercial products are based.

Code Systems was founded in 2002 and consists of a team of veteran Microsoft engineers and academic researchers.
