The DevExpress Office File API 26.1 update introduces safer document processing, covering both the Word Processing Document API and Spreadsheet API. A new configurable security layer helps applications process DOCX, XLSX, and other supported document formats from untrusted sources with greater confidence. It can reject files that exceed defined structural limits before they are fully parsed, remove potentially dangerous content such as macros, embedded objects, and unsafe links during loading, and sanitize documents by removing metadata, revision history, and hidden content before sharing or archiving. These capabilities help organizations address document security and privacy requirements in regulated environments, including those subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX).
