PL/SQL Developer Licensing

One software license is required per user.

PL/SQL licenses are per named user, and not per PC, Server, Database or Location. Therefore you need just one license for one named user, even if you are running multiple instances on multiple machines.

You may use the software product for the number of named licensed developers within the legal entity of the license holder and within the country of the license holder.

If you have an unlimited user license for the software product, you are entitled to use the software product with an unlimited number of developers within the legal entity of the license holder and within the country of the license holder.

If you have a worldwide license for the software product, you are entitled to use the software product with an unlimited number of developers within the legal entity of the license holder in any country.

Service Contract option
If you order an Annual Service Contract with your PL/SQL Developer licenses, you are entitled to receive technical support by e-mail and free product upgrades for the period of 1 or 3 years (depending on service option purchased). Without this contract, you will receive only patch releases of the PL/SQL Developer version you purchased.

You can order the service contract directly with a PL/SQL Developer License or with an Upgrade License, or at a later time. The service contract can be renewed when it expires.

Upgrade options
If you have a valid Service Contract then you are already entitled to new versions for the duration of your Service Contract.
If you do not have a Service Contract or your Service Contract has expired then you have the following options:

  • Buy a new Service Contract. The new contract period will be backdated to the end date of your previous service contract, or to the purchase date of your license if it did not include a service contract.
  • Buy an Upgrade License without a Service Contract. You will receive the latest version but will not be entitled to technical support and you will only receive patch releases of the PL/SQL Developer version you purchased.
  • Buy an Upgrade License and add a new Service Contract. The new service contract period starts on the date of the upgrade purchase and will entitle you to technical support by e-mail and free product upgrades for the period of the contract.

Note: These upgrade options have replaced the Reinstatement Fee.
