Wijmo is Licensed Per Developer and Deployment Hostname
One software license is required per-developer. A developer may install their license on up to two machines.
Developer License Includes:

  • One (1) Developer License with one year of support and updates for all Wijmo components.
  • Five (5) Hostname Deployment Licenses for Internal and/or External Non-Commercial deployment.
  • Major and minor version releases for one year.
  • Unlimited Support Phone Call, Emails and Tickets.

After your support and updates period expires, you can renew to receive another year of updates. If you choose not to renew, you can continue using the last version you are eligible to use.

Runtime is NOT Royalty Free***
A deployment license is required to distribute software you create using Wijmo components, the license required is dependent on how the software will be used:

  • Internal and Non-commercial use is defined as an application(s) for internal or external use where the end-user will not be charged to access the service(s).
  • Commercial use is defined as an application(s) where the end-user or company(s) will be charged a one-time fee.
  • SaaS use is defined as application(s) where the end-user or company(s) will be charged a scheduled subscription fee to access the service(s).

Five (5) Hostname Deployment Licenses for Internal and/or External Non-Commercial deployment are included with a developer license.
If you are deploying a Commercial application, you will need to purchase a Single Hostname Deployment License for each hostname your application runs on. This license grants perpetual use for the version purchased.
Wijmo Single Hostname Deployment (must be tied to a Developer License (Wijmo Enterprise)).

* For customers with a current Platinum subscription, MESCIUS provide a response to any issue submitted to them within 24 hours (excluding weekends and observed US holidays).

With every developer license, you'll receive up to five (5) Hostname Deployment Licenses for Internal and/or External Non-Commercial deployment, you will be entitled to generate distribution keys that will be used in the script code.
Wijmo license holders can generate distribution keys hostnames (domains) as they need.
While the licenses never expire, keys are limited to upgrading versions for up to a year, after that you will need to buy a new version and create a new key.

What is a Distribution Key?
A Distribution Key is a character string that authorizes an application to use Wijmo. You can generate a Distribution Key using your account on MESCIUS' website. To make a Distribution Key, simply add the hostnames to be authorized and generate the key; then apply the key to your app.

How many hostnames can I add to a Distribution Key?
You can add as many individual hostnames to a distribution key as you have purchased licenses for.
Note: you can’t add a catch-all hostname like *.asdf.com. For that, you'll need a Wild Card Distribution License, or an Unlimited Distribution License or an OEM/SaaS agreement, please email sales@componentsource.com for details.

How long will my Distribution Key be valid?
All Wijmo distribution licenses are perpetual.

  • New licenses of Wijmo Core are no longer available, customers can get the same and more functionality by purchasing Wijmo Enterprise.

  • Customers with Wijmo Core and Standard Support can continue to purchase Wijmo Core Subscription Renewal.

*** Please note that on April 1st 2024 the Wijmo licensing changed:
Wijmo is now limiting hostnames to 5 per developer seat (previously included unlimited hostnames with each Wijmo Enterprise purchase).
5 free hostnames are only to be used for internal apps, or dev/testing environments (previously allowed commercial use).

One of the following distribution options must now be purchased if using Wijmo in a commercial app:

  • Single hostname (example: myapp.acme.com).
  • Wildcard single domain (example: *.acme.com).
  • Unlimited domain / OEM.
  • Customers who use Wijmo in SaaS app will need to pay an annual SaaS Licensing fee.

FAQs

Is the license permanent (perpetual) or temporal (time-limited)?

All ComponentOne / Wijmo licenses are permanent. A license entitles you to one year of free upgrades, including bug fixes and new features. You can continue to use the purchased product after your subscription period ends.

What happens after my subscription expires?

After one year, you are no longer entitled to updates, but you may continue to use the products received with your subscription after your subscription has expired.

Can I co-term (align) my existing licenses?

Yes - ComponentSource can arrange to co-term your licenses, even if they were not originally purchased through us. Please call us or to discuss your needs.

Can I upgrade my license?

Upgrades are available from any previous version of the same product (e.g. from any version of Wijmo to the latest version of Wijmo).

Can I buy an old product version?

Please contact us to request an older version.

Is Source Code available?

Yes - source code is available upon request. Please contact us for more information.

Can I install my license on more than one machine?

Can a license be transferred from one developer to another?

Licenses may be transferred from one developer to another or from one server to another. In this case, the original copy must be completely removed from the original developer's machine (or from the original server).

What type of support do I get?

Standard Support is included with all subscriptions. It includes:

  • Forums
  • Online support
  • The option to email your project for analysis

Platinum Support includes all entitlements of Standard Support, plus:

  • 24 Hour FastTrack Response (excluding weekends and observed US holidays)
