Basic, Professional and Enterprise Editions
- Mapping differencing
- In this release, you can compare two versions of a data mapping project to see exactly what has changed. Differences are displayed visually in the graphical mapping environment, so every change is immediately clear, whether it is a new or removed mapping connection, a modified data processing function, or a change to a component.
- Connections, components, and nodes that are added appear in green, removals in red, and structural changes in yellow, while pink indicates changes in descendant nodes.
- Comparing versions directly in the mapping view shows changes in the same form you designed them in, so you can easily review a colleague's edits, verify that a change did what you intended, or trace when and where a mapping started producing different results. You can also export a diff report in XML format.
- This functionality also enables integration with source control systems, so the same visual comparison is available whenever you diff two versions of a mapping from your version control client. This makes review and troubleshooting of mapping projects much more straightforward.
- Support for source control systems
- MapForce now supports integration with source control systems and can be registered as the diff tool for .mfd data mapping projects. A new command line option lets MapForce open two versions of a mapping and display the comparison in the graphical mapping environment, so when you run a diff from your version control client, or review a change in a pull request, MapForce opens with the two versions side by side with every difference highlighted.
- Teams can commit mappings to a shared repository, review each other's changes before merging, and look back through history to see exactly what changed in a mapping and when, all without leaving the tools they already use. Because the diff is shown visually, it's easy to see and understand which connections and functions have changed.
- Automatic support for files with unknown extensions
- Many industry and application-specific formats are really XML or JSON under a different file extension: .kml for geographic data, .svg for graphics, .gpx for GPS tracks, .nitf for news article content, and hundreds of others. MapForce now recognizes the underlying format when you open one of these files, regardless of its extension, and automatically inserts the corresponding mapping component.
- This means any of the countless XML- and JSON-based vocabularies in use today can be mapped in MapForce without renaming files or specifying the format by hand.
- New setting for one-click file activation in Project pane
- A new option offers single-click file activation in the Project window. After enabling this from the Project tab in the Tools/Options menu, you can click a file once to open it, or to bring it to the front if it's already open. It is a fast way to move between files in large projects, matching the workflow used in other modern editors and IDEs.
Professional and Enterprise Editions
- Support for DISTINCT in SQL WHERE/ORDER component
- The SQL WHERE/ORDER component, which lets you filter and sort database rows directly in a mapping, now includes a DISTINCT option. When checked, MapForce adds DISTINCT to the SELECT statement it generates, so the database returns only unique rows.
- Removing duplicates at the database level reduces data transfer and processing, particularly for large tables or repeated values. What previously required additional grouping or distinct-values logic is now a single setting in the existing WHERE/ORDER component.
- Support for Python functions in mapping projects
- Sometimes the logic you need already exists in code your team has written and tested. Rather than recreating it, MapForce lets you import external Python functions and call them directly from your data mapping. This adds to support for importing Java and C# function libraries.
- You can import Python functions locally for use in a single mapping or globally to be available for all future mappings.
- Updated database support
- MapForce connects to all popular relational databases for data integration and ETL. In this release, support has been added for the newest versions of several:
- SQL Server 2025.
- Oracle 26.
- Informix 15.
- MySQL 9.7.
- SQLite 3.53.
- MariaDB 12.
- Updated Eclipse support
