• Security is at the core of InterBase 15. This release raises the bar with major improvements:
  • AES 256-bit encryption by default (except for InterBase ToGo Lite), securing data at rest and in transit.
  • SHA-256 password digest for stronger password storage and transmission.
  • TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are no longer supported. Client-server communications now use TLS 1.2 and higher, ensuring stronger protection with modern security standards.
  • OpenSSL 3.5 LTS, a long-term supported library that provides a future-proof foundation for secure communication and data encryption.
  • FIPS 140-3 support, an optional compliance mode aligned with the latest U.S. government standard, is required for many industries, including finance, healthcare, and government.
• Modern Tooling for Modern Apps - InterBase has been updated to match today's development stack:
  • Visual C++ 2022 toolchain ensures compatibility and security with the latest runtime.
  • Installer and runtime updates build on improvements from InterBase 2020 Update 7.
  • IBConsole enhancements, including a new server and database dashboard, faster property sheets, dataset report printing customizations, and a series of usability improvements.
  • Broad connectivity through a full set of drivers and components, making it easy to integrate with existing stacks and frameworks. Supported options include ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, and Python, along with native components for RAD Studio such as IBX and FireDAC.
  • Recent updates have expanded support for the InterBase ADO.NET driver and Python modules, ensuring developers can take advantage of modern workflows and languages.
• Platforms Support - InterBase Server expands its target environments to include:
  • Windows Server 2025
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10
  • Ubuntu 24
  • InterBase Server runs on 64-bit Windows and Linux. On Windows, the server kit includes both 32-bit and 64-bit client libraries, while on Linux, the client libraries match the server architecture.
  • For applications that require an embedded database engine, InterBase ToGo delivers the full InterBase engine inside the application itself. InterBase ToGo is available for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android. InterBase ToGo also enables your applications to connect with InterBase servers reachable on the network.
