A super tool!! We used it in our My-Office tool which is connecting to SAP and the greatest complement we got was from a lead which asked us how we were able to integrate SAP data into Outlook! Our complements go to Janusys.
I have already been evaluating the DOTNET version and that goes beyond the limits of the GridEx. Everything you ever dreamed of is possible.

Can't wait for the .Net version of GridEX. I think it's the most professional grid on the market and the support desk at Janus is the best. If you have a question, mail them and you receive a clear answer the same day.

A developer essential!!

This is the BEST Grid control on the market - we worked with it since Version 1.5 without problems.

I have used numerous grids and have found that the Janus Grid is the best. Using their Advanced Sample gave me the idea of creating dynamic data entry forms using their Card View mode for single records and Table View mode for multiple records. I have approximately 110 tables in my SQL Server 2000 database and it would have been a tremendous effort trying to create data entry forms for them. However, I found one thing lacking in the Janus Grid in the Card View mode. If you have a recordset that has no data in it, the Janus Grid in Card View mode is blank and you cannot enter any new records. However, if the Grid is in the Table View mode, it allows you to enter records; which means, that whenever, I want to allow user's to enter any new data records, the grid must be in Table View mode. I hope that Janus Systems fixes this problem in their new release, preferably in .net.

A must product! Need I say more.

For those of you wondering, I contacted the company about their .net strategies coming. They responded almost immediately!.

For those interested, their response was...

"We are working on the .NET version and a public beta is planned to be released in February. we are targeting April for the final release. Janus DataEdit Controls (A set of controls including multicolumn combo, masked edit and dropdown calendar) will be free with GridEX for NET"

Great Product. Great Support.

The ultimate grid component and very fast technical support! Look no further.

martin.hossfeld [Germany] 08-Oct-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

Great product. The best grid I have seen so far. It will replace TrueDBGrid in all our applications, because it is much more powerful. Very easy to use and lots of useful features; I especially like the grouping feature and the property editor; both are outstanding. The online help is useful, but not really up to the standard of the product itself. However, this is not really a problem, as their support is by a long margin the best I have experienced so far. It never took more than 8 hours to get a competent response to my questions; usually I got it within an hour or so; these guys must be working all around the clock. There is very little left to be desired: a filter bar, outlining (however this is not a big problem as their grouping can do most of it) and column merging - These things are the ONLY reason we are still using any other grids as well.

Spent a few days (July 2001) evaluating all kinds of available grids but none of them worked the way I wanted them to (or took too long to figure out). The documentation was very poor and the samples just too simple...
And then I tried Janus GridEx 2000...
With a very good help file and a very useful advanced sample (source unfortunately not available in the trial version, but the executable was enough to see that it could do what I wanted it to) I had a form (Master/Detail with the ability to add rows á la MS Access, some ADO-bound and some calculated columns) up and running in no time.
An e-mail to their support on a license issue received a very prompt reply so the support seems to be quite OK.
Since the problem with the Master/Detail form was so quickly solved with this component, I had the time to play around with it a bit and the possibilities seem endless!
Try it - You won't regret it!

Componente extremamente potente. Vale a pena ...

Translation:

Extremely powerful component. It also has impressive resources from both a technical and a visual point of view.
I have already sold various applications containing this component after sending a screenshot of the applications where the component was displayed. It provides your application with a really professional and pleasant appearance. I have had a license for about three years now and the makers of the product are constantly improving it, which must be difficult taking into account that it is already close to perfection. Try it, it’s worth it.

This is one of the coolest ActiveX controls for desktop applications! We use it together with ASP XP for creating Web applications that has a similar object model.

Mark Collard [United Kingdom] 20-Apr-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

There are lots of grid controls on the market, but none of them come anywhere close to this one. The Janus GridEX control is best grid control ever. All the others seem to work fine when they are bound, but try and use them in unbound mode and the pain begins. You have to use arrays and bookmarks and variants, and it becomes a nightmare. Janus have developed a Grid control that is an absolute dream to use in bound mode and unbound mode.

If you think this all sounds good, wait until you see the Property Pages. It is the best Property Pages I’ve every seen and used.

This is a must buy control.

Syd [United Kingdom] 26-Feb-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

Great product. One gripe: it would be cool if the unbound data events were passed a values parameter in the form of a collection [with access to the items through a keyed index property], then you would be able to implement true custom data binding, such as to XML documents.

i.e. instead of (currently)

[pseudo-code!!]
Values(1) = myDoc.selectSingleNode("CustomerName").Value
Values(2) = myDoc.selectSingleNode("ID").Value
Values(3) = myDoc.selectSingleNode("Email").Value

you could do

For Each child in myDoc.childNodes
Values(child.Name) = child.Value
Next

I have been through all of the grids you see on ComponentSource and this one by far looks the best and offers the best set of features. Probably because its based on the slick grid in MS Outlook. Performance is good, although not as fast as grids such as FlexGrid due to the fact that it only retrieves the data that it needs for the currently displayed rows. This makes for a fast grid load, lower memory requirements, but a slower scroll. Unbound data reading is a bit weird as it fires an event to retrieve the data for each row to display. You can't just pass the grid a recordset and tell it to get on with it. I have been able to do some pretty amazing things with this grid just by having things like good hit testing support and awesome custom formatting of individual cells. The only feature I would like to add is to be able to set the borders of individual cells. Tech support is very good and the help file is of excellent quality.

Peter [New Zealand] 22-Feb-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

GridEx is an excellent control, I use it with VB6 and it does everything I had hoped it would. The support is fast and helpful, the best support I have experienced from any ActiveX control supplier.

dataservices [USA] 22-Feb-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

Janus was easy to integrate into my existing applications. My data entry staff like the "feel" of the control much better than any other grid control we have employed.

Anonymous 21-Feb-2001Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

Very good product, I use it a lot. From a positive point of view it allows the user a very easy to understand and intuitive environment for querying and drilling into his data. From a programming point of view I wish it would offer better facilities for working with single cells. I have also found it to have problems saving data, so I tend to use it in a read only mode, which is fine for me. One of the great features is the print previewing, which is missing from some of its competitors. Overall a good grid which is easily understood by your software’s users, which at the end of the day is what it's all about.

I have been using VB for the past 4 years and I have gone through lots of controls, but GridEX is the most excellent tool I ever used.

Very good component for use within Access Database. Good support for databinding to sql-server within the component and a very good internal property editor. And: Very fast support through Janus - support !

We use GridEX in a number of Visual FoxPro applications, and have had no problems. Very easy to use, and virtual mode is extremely fast to populate.

PabloC 21-Dec-2000Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

I use Visual Basic and I believe this is the best grid available. Everything can be done with only a few lines of code, and all the functionalities I may need are provided. It's simple and powerful at the same time. Other solutions require more effort from the programmer to achieve simple tasks. And also, it looks good.

Anonymous 18-Dec-2000Revue : Score moyen de révision - Janus GridEX - ActiveX - 2000b

Great product. Easily bound to my database and gave me the results I needed in a Grid product.
