Simplify Debug Configuration for Every Project

CLion 2026.2 lets you configure local, remote, and embedded debugging from one place, with a unified settings interface.

Simplify Debug Configuration for Every Project

CLion, by JetBrains, is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tailored for C and C++ development, with support for other languages like Python, Kotlin, and Rust via plugins. Designed for software developers and embedded engineers, it improves coding with features like intelligent code completion, real-time analysis, and an advanced debugger. CLion integrates seamlessly with tools like CMake, version control systems, and remote development setups, making it ideal for cross-platform and performance-critical projects. By automating repetitive tasks and enhancing code quality, it helps developers focus on innovation and problem-solving.

Configuring the CLion debugger is now much simpler thanks to a new 'Debug Profiles' settings section. Instead of managing multiple IDE settings, developers can configure local, remote, and embedded debugging from a single place. This is especially useful for embedded development, where hardware interfaces and debug probes often add extra complexity. The new approach brings together support for debuggers and probes including GNU Debugger (GDB), LLVM Debugger (LLDB), SEGGER J-Link, and ST-LINK, making it easier to switch between different debugging scenarios while keeping configuration consistent.
