SourceGear SourceOffSite is a robust client-server solution designed to integrate with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe source control systems. It enhances development workflows by enabling remote, fast, and secure access over any TCP/IP connection. Additionally, it supports collaboration through chat, discussion groups, bug tracking, and notifications, helping distributed teams coordinate and communicate effectively.

Client-Server Architecture

SourceOffSite uses a server installed near the Visual SourceSafe database and clients that connect over TCP/IP. This structure provides secure, reliable remote access to source control operations without needing Windows Remote Access Service.

Modern Client Interface

The client features a Microsoft Office Fluent UI with multi-tab support, enabling users to work with multiple project views simultaneously. It offers an intuitive toolbar for navigating source control tasks efficiently.

Comprehensive Source Control Functionality

Users can perform nearly all Visual SourceSafe operations such as check-in/out, branching, merging, labeling, and history viewing. The client mimics SourceSafe Explorer for a familiar experience, easing adoption.

SourceOffSite delivers significantly faster access to source control data, often up to ten times quicker than traditional Visual SourceSafe over Remote Access Service, while increasing stability and robustness.

Working Folder and Pending Checkins Management

Collaboration Features

The Collaborative Edition adds chat, discussion groups, notifications, and bug tracking. These tools help teams communicate in real-time, discuss topics asynchronously, and track issues and project progress together.
