Previous Versions

If you buy a new license of MadCap Doc-To-Help, you will have access to download older versions of the same product.

MadCap Doc-To-Help Licensing

Licenses are per user per seat. Anyone that uses Doc-To-Help to create and compile projects needs to have a license. A user can activate their license on a second portable or home computer, provided 1) they are the only person using Doc-To-Help on that 2nd computer, 2) the computers are on separate domains and, 3) the licenses are not used concurrently.

Licenses may be transferred from one user to another. In this case, the original copy must be completely removed from the original user's machine and the serial number deactivated on that machine.

The outputs you build (print materials, web content, application help) can be distributed royalty free.

The license includes a one year subscription that gives you access to free upgrades (including bug fixes and new features), and online support channels. After one year, you are no longer entitled to updates or support channels unless you renew your subscription.

The license is perpetual and does not expire.

If you acquired a Floating License, you are entitled to use the Software within your organization without restriction up to the total number of concurrent users that are specified in your Software purchase agreement, provided that your use is limited to the business entity or division that is specified in your agreement.  Your Floating License shall continue so long as you remain in compliance with the terms of this License Agreement and have paid applicable license fees. Your Floating License requires activation and continued connectivity to the Internet to remain active.  Access to the Software may be interrupted if Internet connectivity is not maintained.  

If you acquired an Enterprise Floating License, you are entitled to use the Software within your organization without restriction up to the total number of concurrent users that are specified in your Software purchase agreement, provided that your use is limited to the business entity or division that is specified in your agreement.  Your Floating License shall continue so long as you remain in compliance with the terms of this License Agreement and have paid applicable license fees. Your Floating License requires activation and continued connectivity to the Internet to remain active.  Access to the Software may be interrupted if Internet connectivity is not maintained.  In addition, you may install your Enterprise Floating License on a central network server in order to be accessed remotely by the specified number of concurrent users as specified in your agreement.

License Agreements

FAQs

Is the license permanent (perpetual) or temporal (time-limited)?

MadCap Doc-To-Help is available as both Pereptual Licenses and Timed Subscriptions. The Perpetual License allows you to continue using the software indefinitely after purchase and includes a 12 month Bronze or Platinum support and maintenance subscription which entitles you to upgrades, updates and support during the subscription period. The Timed Subscription allows you to use the software for 12 months, and must be renewed in order to continue using the software.

What happens after my subscription expires?

Timed Subscriptions
When the subscription period ends, you may no longer use the software unless you purchase a renewal. If you choose to renew you will also receive a further 12 months of support or updates.

Perpetual Subscriptions
When the subscription period ends, you may continue to use the software without further updates, upgrades or support, or purchase a renewal in order to extend the support and maintenance period.

Can I co-term (align) my existing licenses?

Yes. ComponentSource can arrange to co-term your licenses, even if they were not originally purchased through us. Please call us or send us a message to discuss your needs.

Can I upgrade my license?

Yes. It is possible to upgrade from any previous version of Doc-To-Help. Please call us or send us a message to discuss your needs.

Can I add a new license / previous version to my existing MadCap Software account?

Yes. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Can I buy an old product version?

MadCap Software does not sell previous versions directly, but purchasing any new license gives you access to download older versions of the same product.

Can I install my license on more than one machine?

Yes. Each license can be installed on two different machines, as long as they are both on different domains.

Can a license be transferred from one developer to another?

Yes. You can deactivate your license from within the Help Ribbon, or the MadCap support team can help you transfer a license to another developer.

What type of support do I get?

New MadCap Doc-To-Help licenses are available with Bronze or Platinum support and maintenance subscription.

Bronze Maintenance and Support includes product upgrades and updates, unlimited email support, and access to the knowledge base and forums.

Platinum Maintenance and Support adds unlimited priority email and telephone support, access to the Senior Engineer support team, and the option to send projects directly to the support team for analysis.

Does this product require online / offline activation?

No. MadCap Doc-To-Help does not require activation.
