Highly parallel and low latency H.264 video encoder for your products and services. DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder's macroblock level parallelism utilizes the full power of your multi-core CPUs without penalty (such as quality, bit-size, and encoding-latency). DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder is provided as a DirectX Media Object (DMO) which can be used directly or in DirectShow environments. DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder supports up to 64 simultaneous threads but the actual number of threads is determined by the number of CPU-cores (or hyper-threads) of your system.

DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder is provided as a DirectX Media Object (DMO). You may use it directly or in DirectShow environment.
DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder supports up to 64 simultaneous threads. But actual number of threads is determined by the number of CPU-cores (or hyper-threads) of your system. You can only decrease it.
DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder's multi-threading method is based on wavefront. All the worker threads are concentrated on the most recent input frame, which could result in very low encoding latency without any penalty on final encoded quality or bit-size. Also, Its CBR rate-control is tuned for near zero latency scenario. So, DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder is very well fitted for time-critical applications such as video conferencing, as well as other types of applications.
Low encoding latency also means low encoding latency variation, which could result in extremely low frame-drop rate for live encoding. DiscretePhoton H.264 encoder also adopts quite a large motion estimation range, which makes it resilient to high-definition, low frame-rate, and high-motion videos.
Performance figures can be found from MSU's latest public video codec comparison.
