Review Assistant adds new Watcher Role

Review Assistant helps you manage review requests without leaving Visual Studio. Peer code review helps improve code quality and ship software with less defects. Review Assistant helps you to automate the process with minimum overhead. It is targeted at developers who use Visual Studio but it also integrates with Team Foundation Server (TFS), Git, Subversion (SVN) and Mercurial (Hg).

More Flexible Email Notifications

• Individual email notification settings for each event type.
• Every member of a project can now receive email notifications about all events.

Join Reviews

• You can now join reviews that are in the list of open project reviews.

New Watcher Role

• A review creator can assign team members to monitor the review process.
• Watchers receive all review notifications.
• Watchers can join a review any time while the review is pending and add comments to code.

Create Reviews without Specifying Reviewers
This feature was added specifically for agile teams, it allows creating "hanging" reviews, which any team member can pick up.

• Code authors can now create a review without adding specific reviewers.
• All project members receive email notifications about the new review.
• Reviews with no reviewers appear under the "My Reviews" and "To Review" filters for every project member.
• Any project member can join a review.

Other Improvements

• Review editor usability improved.
• Project settings improved to avoid ambiguity.
• The warning on Accept Changes is more explicit.
