ActiveReports.NET Licensing

If you need to discuss your licensing requirements for ActiveReports.NET, please contact our MESCIUS (formerly GrapeCity) licensing specialists.

We can supply any ActiveReports.NET license including new subscriptions, subscription renewals, lapsed subscription renewals, and additional developer licenses.

Developer License

A Developer License is required for each individual developer who will be using ActiveReports.NET to design, develop, and maintain applications. This type of license grants the developer access to all the features and functionalities of ActiveReports.NET, enabling them to create, modify, and test reports within their development environment. If multiple developers are working on the project, each developer must have their own separate Developer License. An active Developer License will allow the developer to build the project for deployment to end-users, with no additional deployment or end-user licenses necessary. If you are using build servers or pipelines for deployment, a Pipeline License is recommended in addition to the necessary number of Developer Licenses, which will be outlined below.

Key points:

  • Required for each developer using ActiveReports.NET
  • Grants access to all development features
  • No additional licenses are required for building and deployment
  • Each developer using ActiveReports.NET needs their own separate Developer License

Pipeline License

A Pipeline License is designed for automated build and deployment environments, such as CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines. This license simplifies the integration of ActiveReports.NET into your automated processes, enabling the deployment of your application containing ActiveReports.NET as part of your application's lifecycle without manual intervention. The Pipeline License ensures that your ActiveReports.NET application can be built and deployed consistently and reliably in an automated manner. This license only functions at build-time, and does not work like a standard Developer License for design-time usage. The Pipeline License has reduced restrictions on things like machine limits and activation frequency limits to ensure a smooth automated build process in environments where builds may be run very frequently and from virtual machines that are technically a new machine on every build.

Key points:

  • Designed for automated build and deployment environments
  • Supports CI/CD pipeline integration
  • Only works at build-time, not for design-time usage
  • Ensures consistency and reliability in automated processes

Maintenance

Adding Maintenance to your licenses provides you not only with a Standard or Professional Developer license but also includes a subscription to our Maintenance Plan. This plan ensures that you receive ongoing support and updates for ActiveReports.NET throughout the duration of your maintenance period. With Maintenance, you benefit from:

  • Free Upgrade: Access to the latest features, enhancements, and performance improvements added in the next major release. (Ex: A v18 license holder with maintenance will receive a license for v19 upon its release)
  • Bug Fixes: Timely patches and fixes for any issues or vulnerabilities that are identified.
  • Priority Support: Direct access to our technical support team for expedited issue resolution and assistance. Phone support included.
  • Cost Savings: A more economical way to stay current with the latest versions. Renewal cost for a license with maintenance is cheaper than purchasing an upgrade later.

Key points:

  • Is added on top of a Standard or Professional Developer License.
  • Access to the next annual major release.
  • Timely bug fixes and patches.
  • Priority support from the technical team, including phone support.
  • Cost-effective solution for ongoing improvements and support.
